I stopped a retired CHP sergeant today. Badge #229&. He put in 32 years and has been retired for 33 years. What's the lowest badge number you have met who is still sucking fresh air? Shook his hand and thanked him for his service.

Groveland, where's that?
Yeah, thats a pretty low badge number.... I've stopped a 4xxx once. I think we're at high 202xx badge numbers.

He get a ticket?
LOL.
Lawyers look at member numbers too. I remember taking a deposition and the guy defending was like 20xxx. For reference I have been practicing for some time and my number is 209xxx. Anyone under 150xxx is an old timer.

I used to work for an attorney whose number was 1xxxx - admitted in 1961, still practicing in 2010 at age 78. :thumbup

Did the badge say "Traffic Officer" and was it in brass or stone?:laughing

(Good for him:thumbup- My friend's step Dad and my Traffic Instructor was a three digit Sarge from the Mtz. Office- he was 19S1)

The question we all wanna ask is what did you pop him for?

Is the old fella still stretching the speed limit?

Answer not expected - treat it as rhetorical :).

Off topic but... I just wish they'd make some device to help control the speed of a vehicle so that it can maintain speeds regardless of hills or turns. :x

Old school cops tended not to wear seatbelts. Maybe that became ingrained with him. Times have changed.

You can duck and cover quicker.:laughing
(It took me convincing to wear one on patrol and the stats show you are more likely to be killed/injured in a MVC vs. a OIS.)

2012 was the first year in forever that no California LEO lost their life in a motor vehicle collision. That is an accomplishment to be proud of. Seatbelts save lives. Better designed cars help too.
