Hey DMV, where is my new sticker?!

So I renewed the registration for my GSXR online a few weeks ago, but I have yet to receive anything. When I check the payment status on their site all I get is:

"Our records indicate that a transaction for this vehicle was already completed. Please be sure that you are registering the correct vehicle and resubmit if necessary."

Seems like an appointment w/the local DMV is in order. I printed out the page showing submission of payment. Is this sufficient enough proof to show any LEO if I get pulled for an expired tag? Maybe it got lost in the mail, not the first time this has happened...a couple of years ago my new sticker got mailed to some bumf**k address in Pennsylvania. Go figure. :wtf

I paid 'em online, they mailed me a new sticker a few weeks later- but it was last year's sticker. So I emailed them asking what's up. One week later, they refunded the money I paid. Two weeks after that, they snail mailed me telling me I was late.

Yeah, trip into DMV with everything and the gal cracked up and fixed it all in two minutes.

Two weeks is pretty quick for DMV

Yes, just carry as much paper as possible.

All in an envelope in my tankbag. :thumbup Hate the thought of all this effort to get the thing back together and then I can't ride it. :mad

Trackday is NOT a race!
When I bought FZ6 with expired registration, I asked owner to ride it to my place. Went to DMV in the morning, paid everything, and afternoon took the bike for a ride with an expired sticker on the plate. Got caught by LEO on my way back home with a statement that my reg is not current, showed him a receipt from DMV and was released immediately with an apology.

You should be fine. CVC 5204 covers reg stickers, and it only applies if you didn't pay for your reg thanks to subsection (c) (as I read it).

5204. (a) Except as provided by subdivisions (b) and (c), a tab
shall indicate the year of expiration and a tab shall indicate the
month of expiration. Current month and year tabs shall be attached to
the rear license plate assigned to the vehicle
for the last
preceding registration year in which license plates were issued, and,
when so attached, the license plate with the tabs shall, for the
purposes of this code, be deemed to be the license plate, except that
truck tractors, and commercial motor vehicles having a declared
gross vehicle weight of 10,001 pounds or more, shall display the
current month and year tabs upon the front license plate assigned to
the truck tractor or commercial motor vehicle. Vehicles that fail to
display current month and year tabs or display expired tabs are in
violation of this section.

(b) The requirement of subdivision (a) that the tabs indicate the
year and the month of expiration does not apply to fleet vehicles
subject to Article 9.5 (commencing with Section 5300) or vehicles
defined in Section 468.
(c) Subdivision (a) does not apply when proper application for
registration has been made pursuant to Section 4602 and the new
indicia of current registration have not been received from the
department.

4602. Application for renewal of a vehicle registration shall be made by the owner not later than midnight of the expiration date, and shall be made by presentation of the registration card last issued for the vehicle or by presentation of a potential registration card issued by the department for use at the time of renewal and by payment of the full registration year fee for the vehicle as provided in this code. If the registration card and potential registration card are unavailable, a fee as specified in Section 9265 shall not be paid.

Get a AAA membership. It's worth it just so you don't have to go to the DMV to deal with stuff. The towing is a nice added bonus.

Yeah- I made an appt online, took a couple weeks- had to book it out of town as the local DMV had a 10 week backup. Seems what time you book it doesn't matter, if you are on the list- you just check in and get the next available clerk window. :thumbup

Sitting with an expired June 2019 plate on my Honda. Confirmed check was cashed for payment in May, but nothing came in the mail...had an DMV envelope sitting for a few weeks, but just opened it and it was for our Honda Pilot.

I found the online form and can do this by mail, but it's not clear if I have to pay a fee or how long it takes. Hate going to the DMV, but if they issue the replacement on the spot it might be worth it. Any advice?

Wow. I got lucky as F. I was trying to get appointments at DMV and in one refresh the next available jumped from Sep 9 to Aug 10. Will be BS paying a fee, but still happy if I can walk out the door with a sticker

AAA ftw!

I only signed up for their roadside assistance and get to use their DMV services. I have used roadside service once for key lockout. 😄

DMV hell. I had cataract surgery and have one eye for distance and once for close up. The brain compensates and I no longer need glasses until I got a license renewal. Took the eye test with both eyes open, no problem. test distance eye, no problem. Close up eye, I fail and no amount of explaining worked and DMV insisted I get glasses or no license! So I have glasses I never wear. That is after 3 trips to DMV!

Someone will know for sure- but I seem to recall there's a process where your eye Doc can do a form and it takes the place of DMV eye testing. Never done it, just heard about it.

It's form DL62, but DMV still has the say-so re: license, cause they know best.

I've heard that people who have one good eye and a bum one just leave a tiny gap between fingers when covering their good eye, and read through that. Fortunately, I have two mediocre eyes, and never had to use that trick. It's probably a crime.

Come to Idaho. I have one eye good enough to pass the test and one that can't quite make it. That's good enough here for no vision restrictions. :cool
