Hello fellow riders.

Anyone in Central Valley (Manteca, Tracy, Lathrop, Modesto) help me do valve adjustment on my 2003 KTM 450 EXC. I have an idea on how to do it. Yes I have checked on line and successfully have done intake valve. I cannot figure out Exhaust. I have been riding the sh*t out of her "Supermoto" setup. I will do all the work, show me how to do it. Should take less than an hour of your time.

I am in between jobs right now and cannot afford to take to shop. Your choice of lunch/dinner or hang out in garage and swap stories while drinking your favorite beverage.

Available anytime.

Thanks in advance.

the exhaust is no different from the intake except for thetougher access.

To access, remove the 4 bolts that hold the radiators to the frame (2 ea side) and you can slightly push them out of the way and sneak tools in there if you are patient and nimble fingered. If you have hamburger hands, drain the coolant and remove them entirely to get in there.

Make sure you have the right TDC, put the crank locking bolt in to lock the crank, look in there with a flashlight to see the groove while the bolt is out to make sure you are lined up.

Also know that RFS intake valves are poor quality and lose clearance over time. Record the actual measurements over time before adjusting them and track any changes over time.

those can be useful if you have the room. No-go on most thumpers there the frame backbone is right above the center of the head, where the valve adjusters are.

Still looking for help with valve adjustments. I have watched this video many times. I did valve adjustment earlier this year using this video. I was successful with intake but not so sure with exhaust. I am kinda confused with the whole intake exhaust cam timing thing. I kinda gave up on valve they seemed adjusted but not 100 percent sure . The bike starts right up and the valves are not making noise so I guess I did it right. I am looking for someone to check my work. I've been riding the shit out of this bike dirt/SM she starts and just keeps going. So they can't be that off. I can bring the bike to you.

I will be riding mines/del puerto /mt hamilton Saturday 10/24. She will be trailered so I can drive to you.

Thanks in advance.

I just did mine for the first time. I first tried the video shortcut for finding TDC but was unsure myself because I couldn't fit a .005in feeler gauge in any of the spaces.
I you want true TDC remove the spark plug, put a screw driver or socket extension in the spark plug hole and rotate the engine until you find the halfway point betwen rising and falling of the tool. There is a bolt on the front of bottom of the engine ( I think it's the left engine case) remove that bolt and the washer. Now reinsert that bolt without the washer and if you can tighten it all the way down with your fingers and the crank won't rotate you are at TDC on the compression stroke. If not, you are on the exhaust stroke and you need to rotate the engine one revolution and try again.
