Hello Moto Garage Barfers,

I busted the right fork seal of my 07 gsxr 1000. I ride 100+ miles daily and would like to repair it asap.

Anyone want to do sidejob?

Thanks in advance,
bunz

If you can remove the fork(s) from the bike yourself take them to superplush in sf for rebuild and fork oil refresh.

i have uploaded the photo.

Barf did a funky rotation to the picture. notice it has leaked to the bottom preload adjuster and almost to the caliper unit

I've had them work 2 out of three times on a mildly leaking seal,

+1 on the Seal Mate. I put together a video last year when I had the same problem on my Ducati 848. The SM is easy to use. Some people also use old 35mm film instead (if you have any lying around).

Your leak looks more severe than mine. I eventually replaced both front fork seals for a more permanent fix.

Here's the video:

Bunz,

quit being cheap! :teeth take it to a shop. as said already, you'll save some coin if you take the forks off first. :ride

One thing to keep in mind before sending them off to be worked on...

With the forks unloaded (on a stand or removed from the bike) run a fingernail over the surface to feel for imperfections. a little nick can mess up a new seal pretty quickly, then you're back to square one.

Also a SealMate or similar device can be made with plastic file folder tabs, as they are already "edged" like an arrow to take gunk out. Not that it worked for me, my seal was past the point of no return. But if that's all it takes?
