Hi,

Can anyone without a vested interest in buying a track bike give me a hand figuring out how to prep/price the one I need to sell. To pay rent. ?

PM please.

Thanks.

im prepping 2 for sale right now. the #1 thing for me is that im making sure they are in the condition where id actually ride them on track. im also going to make sure they are somewhat nice looking. then ill price them comparable to other track bikes of the same model and condition. you can find plenty of listing here and on the WERA forum to compare.

I dont think that answered your question though. can you be more specific about the info are you looking for?

Ah, well, that's a bit of a problem. I don't have time/parts/tools to restore it to running order. For one thing, the FCRs need servicing since it hasn't run in 10 years.

It's a fire-sale situation, really.

I just have to figure out how to price it as-is.

Screw it. Here's the lousy pictures, and draft ad copy:

Please excuse the garage-cleaning trash. Big chaos these days.

Did you sell it yet?

No, not yet. Found a little funding to fix it up first.

Cleaned the tank (vinegar etch, phosophoric convert, oil fogged). I have rebuilt the carbs and test-run it. Just about to put the bodywork/seat back on. Waiting on a couple of pod filters in the mail before I put the tank back on.

It will be ready in a few days, then I need to figure out where to list it.

Interested?

I used to race SV’s with AFM and CCS. Had a gen 1 and a gen 2. (Forgot the gen 1s were carb’d - wow).

No, not interested in buying - but was simply going to suggest that the place to sell track bikes are on forums like this one - usually a few for sale here in the want ads.

Also, I think I bought my first SV off the CCS forum - not sure what the site is, maybe ccsforum.com? google around and you’ll find it. Also, AFM used to have a discussion forum, so you could post it there, too. And I believe there is an SV forum somewhere, and they may have people who are interested, too.

Price wise, SV race bikes that were dialed in and literally ready to pass tech and race used to go for $4-5k. Not sure if that’s holding true now, especially with the ‘Rona.

Good luck with the sale.

I don't know what classes it would be legal for (I guess I can research) with the cam mods and the carbs. Any ideas?

Summary:
* 2001 frame, 2005 engine, 41mm FCRs, smog blockoff plates.
* "cam trick" with adjustable gears
* 05 gsxr750 front end
* full safety wiring, but no belly pan.
* No radiator fan, no instruments other than Daytona temp gauge.

It was an AFM bike converted back to street legal, but I changed so much.

It'll be a challenge to get a belly pan for bodywork from a place that is out of business (GP Composites), I think. I should also probably at least try to rig up an oil pressure warning light.

Gixxer front end will make it ineligible for any stock/production classes. CCS had Lightweight Production, Superbike and GT Lights classes. Your bike would not be eligible for Production, but fine for the others. Check AFM rule book online if you want to know. Then again, if buyer is intending to race it, they should know.
