Help! Brake & light inspection

Motorcycle RN

Pretty Vacant
Does anyone know of any place that does motorcycle brake & light inspection?
Preferably near Modesto but at this point I'm willing to drive a ways to get it done.
My '04 GSXR600 was stolen. I bought back from the insurance company and the DMV is making me jump through hoops to get it salvage titled. None of the automotive places around here will do it because their headlight aiming device won't work on a m/c.
Thanks!:ride

I went to Jorgy’s with the bike in the back of the truck.
20 minutes and $25. later I had the certificate. I didn’t even have to unload the bike. Their ph# is 209-463-2912.

Did they actually test anything or just look to see the lights are on the motorcycle?

Made sure all the lights, signals, and horn worked. I have aftermarket rear sets so I had to jury rig the rear brake light sensor. Passed with flying colors!

So I went to the DMV, like they told me, to get the VIN verified. I was told motorcycles have to go to CHP for verification.:wtf

The CHP VIN verification is just a check of the VIN and engine number but the bike has to look roadworthy with lights, signals and plate or bracket in a decent place. You'll need to make an appointment with the bike salvage officer. I think there's a roaming one who does most of the area. Book it asap as there can be a 6 week wait. Your local office will give you a number where you usually have to leave a message. I usually find I get a better response if I fax them a request with all the details. Take all the DMV paperwork with you.

That’s not true. Call DMV around the area. Most DMV do VIN and Engine verificationon on the spot for motorcycles. Always help to be nice / courteous and know exactly where the VIN and Engine numbers are on the bike. Depending on who you get they may not want to look all over for it and instead refer you to CHP.

Most DMV offices do Automobile VIN verification but DO NOT due motorcycle verification. Not all CHP offices do the verification either. You MUST call and make a appointment to get it done. Call the number provided by DMV.

Phone number for the CHP salvage VIN verification is 510 622 4611 but it's basically just a recorded message telling you to fax the details to 510 622 4637. Include your name, phone number, VIN, make, model, year and your prefered CHP office. They will call you back within two days to set up an appointment.

At the Modesto CHP office there’s an officer who does m/c VIN varifications. I think he only does a few a day. It takes about 3 weeks to get an appointment.
