Helmet Mounted Cameras

Are there any restrictions on helmet mounted cameras between PTT, Z2, Keigwins, etc?

I can't speak for Z2 or Keigwins but there are no restrictions at PTT. Just make sure that it is secured well enough so it won't come off while you are riding on the track. Are you a Sun Devil? So am I.

I rode a Keigwins day last year with a helmet mounted camera. It seemed like a cool idea at first and worked well in the paddock. However, the windforce at speed locked out the mount I used, so I got a good view of the pristine tarmac just ahead of the front wheel at Laguna!

Thanks, Guys!

I was gifted a GoPro for Christmas and just figuring out if and how I'd use it. I've never been the type to film my adventures, vlog, etc, but this seems like it could be a good learning tool.
I've thought of the various bike mount possibilities, but a chin mount is a bit interesting as well. Hopefully it wouldn't put too much drag like a side mount.

{Yes, I'm a Sun Devil.}

Have a contour I mounted in the flat rotating mount to the top of my helmet. It, uh, survived off-track testing at those speeds... so I figured it would be fine.

It's never come off, even at t-hill. I would suggest a tank mounted option though, I think you'll get a lot more out of it. Or looking back at yourself from the front nosepiece... I'm thinking about mounting somehting there for next season after seeing vid like that, and loved it.

Most now suggest a safety wire or secondary tether, though. Vents are good locations for this.

There is a risk putting cameras on helmets. The mount becomes a focal point for energy and the helmet is not designed to handled that.

Race organizations are starting to ban helmet mounted cameras for this reason.

Just something to consider before you put a camera on your helmet. Not worth the risk imho.
