A couple of days ago I stumbled upon BARF. I have been completely consumed with it since then. My days at work are basically unproductive now. I especially enjoy reading/learning from all the safe riding posts since I am a relatively inexperienced street rider. Thank you to all that contributed to that info.
A little about me. I have lived in the Bay Area for over thirty years. My first bike was a 1977 (yes, I'm old) RM 125 (AKA screaming yellow zonker). Followed by TS 175, PE 175/250, Maico 460 and my last bike which was a CR 250. Due to poor riding decisions I crashed too many times and injured myself so time to hang it up. Bought a boat, got into the wakeboarding scene but my love for 2 wheels was always there.
Fast forward to about 6 weeks ago. Picked up a DRZ 400S from the dealer in Fremont (good guys over there). My wife didn't talk to me for 2 days but she is basically over it now. Have been using the bike to commute to work (10 miles round trip) and a few round trips up 84/Alice's/Pescadero/San Gregorio early Sunday morning before traffic so I can sharpen my skills and bike control. I am also enrolled in the safe rider course 2nd week of Sept. Couldn't get any sooner due to COVID.
Lastly, I'm looking for a little advice from my fellow enthusiasts. I have acquired 75% of my gear. Good helmet (MX style), armored jacket (nylon), leather gloves etc... but I'm still riding in jeans and hiking boots. I'm a big guy 5'9" 250 lbs. and have very wide feet. Having trouble finding pants and boots that fit fat guys with flippers. Any advice would be appreciated.
Sorry for the long first post but I'm excited and grateful to become part of this family and looking forward to meeting/riding with fellow BARFers.
