Heated Jacket Liners

Hi guys/gals. Wanted to get your opinions/recommendations on a heated jacket liner. Does anyone use these? If so, what brand is it and how snug should it fit? I've seen a few brands out there and was wondering which one you think is a good one. Thanks in advance! :)

Been using the Gerbing heated vest for almost 2 years now... makes winter riding sooooo much more comfortable. They also have a jacket liner version for a little more $$, which is probably even better in terms of warmth... :) Get the thermostat along with it so that you can fine tune the temp...

It should be snug, not constricting, but definitely not loose. You want it as close to an exact fit as you can get.

There's a brand called "Ansai" that has some heated jackets and vests etc... I've seen them at SFMoto. Not sure of the cost though

Thanks for the input. Gonna probably go with the Ansai...fit and finish looks nice. I want to be able to wear it for other outdoor activities as well as a liner.

the main difference between ansai and gerbing/others is that it doesn't heat down the arms or the back or the neck. You only get frontside heating elements on the chest.

If you want the warmest option for riding, Gerbing/Firstgear are the best because they fully heat you all over (neck, arms, chest, back).

I have an Ansai and it's definitely nice around town but it can't hold up to the 70mph wind chill or 30-40-50 degree winter weather with windchill like my Firstgear. It's definitely awesome though to have remote, portable power!

I like my Gerbing's jacket liner. It has a high collar which is soft lined and heated. This keeps my neck warm, and I only feel the wind on my face.

I also bought the Powerlet remote control, it simplifies the connection from the jacket to the bike's power outlet and allows me to position the control up in front where I can see it and easily reach it.

Have had a warn and safe for many years and works fine. I have the jacket liner and like the heat on my arms. Good friend has the new Gerbings Microwire and that is what I would get if I was in the market for a new one, I can feel the wires in my old warn and safe.

Edit: you do need the thermostat control.

It really seems like good stuff, but battery powered--I haven't seen a plug in version. Battery powered gear is fine for non-moto activities, but not the best on the motorcycle. In addition to the issue how of long a battery charge will keep you warm, the power level is less than plug-in moto gear. Maybe it's a good choice if you ride bike with little spare electrical power.

I have a 65W Gerbings microwire jacket. Plenty of power for the coldest bay area weather, without even wearing insulation over it. And not so much power that it overwhelms my bike, when I use it along with heated gloves, heated grips and LED driving lights.

I've read that the Gerbings production moved back to the US from China and that quality improved. Mine was made in China, and hasn't been the most durable, but Gerbings offers a lifetime warranty on the electrical bits, and both times I sent it in for electrical repairs they got it back to me quickly, and faster than their estimate.

I went with a Venture heated jacket. Has elements through the body and arms, and the controller is built in, making it a little less expensive than the Gerbings gear. I only used it one season, but I'm happy with it. I always used a long-sleeve shirt underneath though, because it would sometimes feel a little too hot on bare skin.
