Have you ridden Hwy 58 or 229 in SLO County?

Oh My Sack!

Rides at speed of smell
If you haven't, you're missing out. If you have, you know what I'm talking about!

If you would like to ride this section of road safely, please consider this project that has been proposed and is working its way through planning and EIR.

The proposed project is a Rock Quarry that will put over 200, 80,000# Transfer Loaders on Hwy 58 EVERY DAY!! This project is located just near the 13 corners area of Hwy 58, a stone's throw west of where Hwy 229 (Rossi's Driveway) joins Hwy 58. It's about 3.5 miles east of the small town of Santa Margarita in SLO County. This is a disastrous proposition for local residents and those of us that enjoy touring this area, which I do so frequently on 2 wheels since it's in my backyard.

Here is a link to a local organization that has compiled tons of info and take action links. Other than having a very strong interest on the subject, I have no connection or responsibilities with this organization. It's just that they have spearheaded this movement on behalf of the local residents and I personally, can't even imagine the detrimental traffic impacts of 200+ 80k pound transfer loaders on the pavement and safety of ANYBODY using that road.

Your help with sending a letter to the County Sup's and commenting in opposition on the Draft EIR will help work a path to hopefully get this insanity stopped and keep the road safe.

This has been going on for quite some time. Do you know if there are any new developments or if the project has a chance to move forward?
