Hair cutting tools: Need recommendations

So it is a month of at home and I am looking like a hobo. Tried using an old Connair clippers but find them gettin bogged down when they hit longer and denser part of scalp.

What good quality tools would the BARF collective recommend?

Also appreciating that hair cutting is an art. After I starting to look like this when I finish my hair cut.

I vacuumed the blade after use and actually disassembled and cleaned out the insides too. What kind of oil to use to lubricate? I lost the small bottle that came with the tool

Gun oil, fishing reel oil, sewing machine oil, 3-in-1, mineral oil would probably work too.

I have an Oster 76 that my wife uses on me every two weeks. It's definitely worth buying something nice. Been doing it this way for about 4 years now and it's paid for itself many times over.

Just gotta go slow. You can't just run it straight through long hair in one shot. Also, make sure the blade gap is set correctly (backed off just a bit from where the clippers start making noise), and oiled (I lost the little bottle too, so I just hit them with a small squirt of WD40. :dunno ).

I did a #4 on the sides/back (1/2") and #8 on top (1"). Worked out pretty well; short and clean.

Using some old Conair trimmer I got at Target 10 years ago for $25.

Maybe newer Conair clippers? I've had several brands, but for cutting my hair it's either some flavor of Conair i-Stubble or Braun shaver. Depending on how short I want.

I feel your pain. I was rocking Tony Danza hair for a minute, then it grew out. I'm just going to have fucked up hair for a while. #womenproblems

I cut my own last weekend (what's left of it, anyway. My biggest challenge was how to trim the nape of my neck straight. Looking at my reflection (back of head) in the mirror and free-handing would not work well. I ended up using a strip of painter's tape, sticking the ends to both ears to ensure it was even. Worked very well!
