When a vehicle coming the opposite direction flashes lights at you (not unlike a large red truck), slow the hell down. They are warning you of a situation, or a cop. Just an FYI.

Good to know, I'll pay attention next time. I didnt even notice. I was busy looking ahead of myself, I usually keep whatever else in my peripherals.

Guess my peripherals need work!

I see what your saying, it was fairly obvious too.

I think I stopped using that as a warning sign because I notice a lot of cars look like their flashing, but its just light reflection. Something to work on.

to pick you apart a little more.

1. why didnt you park your bike on the shoulder instead of on the white line? Don't worry, it wont fall over in the dirt.

2. Why in the world did you join in on the pow wow in that corner. You said you had to panic brake to not cream them, but yet you decide to have a meet and greet in the same spot. No need to be so nosey for the sake of some footage next time. They said they were ok. Move it along you lookie loo...

1. My kickstand on the s1000rr is super shitty and super straight up, I wouldnt be so sure and dont want to tip over my 20k bike

2. Well, someone who is ok, might actually not be ok and is just being a hardass ;) I wanted to make sure they were alright, and see if I needed to stick around to be a witness, if he decided to call the cops

Yes, unlikely with all his MC bros there. I do what I do, though.

Besides that I guess I was just nosy. Didnt go for footage. forgot the gopro was running. Last thing on my mind. Actually tried to turn it off. Dont want my face shown

I agree, I was thinking the same thing watching the video. I shouldnt have stopped where I did, I was opening myself up to being asspacked by a speeding car

edit: Maybe ill make a video titled 'what did I do wrong?' And go over the mistakes i made here

Yes, this is an excellent video on what not to do. The part where OP bitched about people stopping in the middle of the road and then does the same thing was particularly funny, particuarly after turning around at a place that would have been far better to stop at (intersection).

Youtube/GoPro user protip - repeat the mantra, less is more when you are editing your video. Shoot for 2 min or less in length unless something is actually happening.

Good commentary all around....Summary :
> Pay attention to people flashing headlights
> You mentioned stopping in the middle of the road and the hazard but joined in, a noob could have creamed you all
> Get your bike further off the road when coming to a stop like that.
> Shorten your youtube video

Point is all riders should practice panic braking, which you showed here how important it is to know. Good on you for that!

Rest of the video, it is what it is.

Lets ride sometime? :)

Good for you helping when simps did not want it :thumbup
I did not see any panic braking?
I always at every accident do the traffic control, hate just standing there like some damn spectator.

you would be surprised how quick a kickstand can sink into asphalt...

I would suggest getting something like this, or a universal puck to throw on the ground. I use one when I park in dirt and it works great

Was that really a 100% emergency stop effort with your ABS cycling furiously?

Did not look or sound that way.

Looked like "normal" hard braking to me.

There's nothing like testing real world emergency braking by trying to time a red-light camera enforced intersection .. Being under hard acceleration to get through then seeing that yellow appear :wow.. So, you get hard on those brakes....

Feels kind of spicy when that front suspension starts the chatter and you know you're going to be able to stop in time.. So, right near the end, you let it up easy .. come to a crisp stop .. then look around at all the people staring at you
like :wtf ... and you just :teeth like : :party easy

Agreed, I didn't hear any front suspension chatter ... OP, that was just heavy braking .. you were even went through like 4 downshifts.

If I had to do a stop like that, id obviously be out riding my sightlines. Why would I be doing that?

Yes it was a very serious stop. No, I know how to e-stop without engaging my abs, because I know how to do it without locking up my wheels.

Dont you?

Focusing on the positives, that's a nice bike. I think that most of it has been said already. I did chuckle when you referred to the guys who parked their bikes in the street as, "fucking morons."
