Grizzly Peak partially repaved

UPDATE: Fully repaved now.

Well it looks like someone finally took notice of the crappy condition of Grizzly Peak. I took a ride through Grizzly on the way back from work tonight and the Northbound lane is paved from 4 corners almost all the way over to Centennial. I imagine it won't be long before the Southbound side is done. So yes I'm excited, can't wait to give the finished product a test...:ride :teeth

Good news, hoping for new rubber and some riding time up there this weekend. That's a lot of road to repave in a short time. I was just up there a couple weekends ago.

Those guys have been working quick I went up to Grizzly last Friday and at that point they had just paved up around the first corner above 4 corners. I bet they will be done before the middle of November.

Where is this grizzly peak you speak of...? haha. Need to try and find a weekend to go riding with you nick; just so busy with training right now.

Just got back from riding out on Grizzly again today. The whole Northbound side is done and work has started partially on the Southbound side. So let me revise my initial estimate, I now expect this will be completed by the end of next week. :teeth

Is it actual asphalt or another "tar & chip" job?

Just got back from riding up there with friends Dave, you can see the paved section in this pic.

I took a little detour on the way home from a Marin ride. Even though southbound isn't yet done, I say it's Hooli-approved. :teeth

I'm astonished they are actually using asphalt. Must be something to do w/the higher flow of traffic, or Federal Paving funding or something. They haven't paved that since 1983'...

In the last two years I've seen dozens of Bay Area roads repaved. Its got to be Fed money. Someone find out the drink of choice of those Grizz pavers and we'll buy 'em a libation!

I went up there a couple of days ago on the Northbound... The surface is good (and they smoothed out some of the dips). They paved pretty far up the shoulder and people keep knocking rock into the roadway on some of the uphill corners. Loads of contamination in the corners so be extra cautious going into them!

I figure since I started this thread I should update it. I rode home tonight after work through Grizzly. Southbound is now paved just past the look out point at the peak; these guys could possibly finish the job tomorrow or Wednesday, well at least up to 4 corners. There is still a stretch past 4 corners that needs to be repaved I imagine they will be able to do that before the week is over. Not only are these road workers fast but they are doing a great job. :thumbup

Nick, you're riding too fast. :twofinger You must've missed the signs saying they'll be done 11/8.
