Hey y'all

Just found out about this corner of the Interwebs. Thought I'd see about hanging out here some....

3rd Gen Californian, born in Berkely, grew up around the East Bay, Half Moon Bay, Scotts Valley, and Santa Cruz. The family farm is still in Manteca. Moved out to North Carolina about 2000, moved back to the the SCM last September.

Riding history is pretty standard, started riding a Honda SL70 around the farm in Manteca when I was 12. Graduated through a Yamaha DT100, Honda MT250, KZ750 in high school. No bike in the Navy. Got out, had a Honda Hawk, a wife, and a daughter. Well... no more bikes.

Fast forward, no more kiddos in the house, a touch of cancer, and "poof!" I'm now riding Harleys! (1 Dyana, a couple Road Kings, a couple Electraglides). Fancied myself a garage wrench so over the years I've had a Ural, a 77 CB750, Sportster, yada yada yada.

Most of "the herd" was culled when we moved back to CA in September 2016. Down to 2 bikes. Currently on a 2002 BMW R1150GSA, my daily rider into San Jose, and a 2017 M8 FLHR that sees most of its action carrying Mrs TurkeyRun to the beach, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, and (with/without Mrs) putting around Hwy 49, and other points east.

Mrs TurkeyRun has her endorsement too, but her Sporty got left in NC. (Shhh currently secret shopping for her birthday this Spring)

Anyway, I had dozens of riding friends, guys and gals out in NC. Been so busy getting settled, learning how to lane-split, and keeping a tech job under control, I haven't done much "social riding". I'm not a big "Biker Rally" guy, prefer riding alone, with 1-2 other bikes, or making it a foursome with Mrs and another 2-up couple.

I'm tame when viewed by the Pirate Crowd, and kinda rough around the edges in the eyes of the Bavarian pipe-smoking intellectuals. I yam what I yam.

Hope to meet some of y'all over the next few years. Think we're staying' here for a bit.

Thanks for the add!

Hi Turkey!

Welcome back home and welcome to some sweet, sweet riding. I was just up on 49 last weekend. That fresh pavement is dreamy.

Welcome home.

I can't imagine coming back after being away for a while. Must have been shocking to see all the development and the traffic.

You might try a barf rally. They are not biker runs, rather individual rides to a destination where all get together for some fun.

There is a sticky in MotoPhoto's that will take you back through 9 years of riding fun. We get all kinds of bikes too.

Enjoy teh BARF.

Well..... not really. I'm an old fart, remember when SJC was a hanger for crop dusters. I remember when the Apple Campus was apricot orchards. When I left in 2000, SiValley was a nuthouse already.

Only thing really different is in the valley, I recognize street names, but none of the buildings and other landmarks make any sense. Over here in Santa Cruz county, it's all pretty much the same. New Starbucks on Ocean St :laughing

I'm trying to remember where the grain mill and silos were. I am pretty sure it was the corner of DeAnza and something. Maybe Homestead or Steven's Creek. We used to roll through there when I was a kid. Not entirely sure when it went away.

Hey Turkey. :wave

I'm down to scrape the floorboards on my Road King with ya. :thumbup

Haha - cool! :thumbup

Wish I read this earlier today. Just rode my M8 FLHR solo: 9 to 35 to 92 to 1 and 9 back home. Literally just pulled in.

Beautiful over here in SC/SM counties today.

Maybe R Cali Brothers at Homestead and Sunnyvale Saratoga road. Mariani was right around there too. Ah, the days of minibikes, the munchies and eating infinite apricots.

I like your bio, TR.
