great big gobs of POWER

two wheel tramp

exploring!
Earlier this year i finally cracked. After being FZ curious for many years I bought an immaculate 2009 with all the right upgrades. That's not what this thread is about.

While riding today i had to make a few passes and i just freaking love the buttery smooth roll on of a big I4. I sort of kick myself for waiting so long to get one and see why so many love them so.

I still love my thumpers and twins but there's a special kind of tickle from 147 super smooth HP.

That is all. :laughing

I get it, trust me.
I4s will always be my "thing" for the reasons you describe and more.
There is something to be said for buttery smooth "fuck you" acceleration. :laughing

The most buttery smooth bike I ever owned, and I've owned singles, twins and inline fours as well, was the triple in my K75S which had been breathed on by San Jose BMW/CC Products.

Nowhere near the power you guys are talking about but that was the best engine I've ever owned in terms of smoothness.

When I had a 130hp twin, never mind the power you guys are talking about, I did some naughty things with long lines of cars on straights.

Got rid of it though after I got my 35hp DRZSM oddly enough.

Horses for courses.

Jeff, got the new fence yet post fire?

I guess there’s no need to comment if “ that’s all folks”. :twofinger
Yours is the only 2nd generation FZ1 I’ve ridden and it’s well suspended to go along with that buttery stuff. There’s something to be said for the joys of liter bike acceleration. Your motorcycle path was tiered in a euro like fashion.

If you like 147 hp, try north of 185. Although I do have to contend with more weight. I'm not sure I've ever really had my bike to red line, but the torque is sublime.

Short answer, no.
We have the insurance money but neighborhood politics are bogging things down.
But.....(avoiding thread jack here) we get to hear the sweet sound of I4s as they hustle past the house on their wine country rides. :laughing

Congratulations on the bike. The inline 4 power rush is good stuff.

Little guy here on an R6 with 135 horsies.

Wicked acceleration on the pipe. Shit starts to happen really fast.
Then again, I don’t usually do that, except on the racetrack. Spinning it up to 15K rpm on the street is usually crazy.

Ah. Maybe I need a litre bike.

Anyone ever get ride on Dan Gurney's Alligator? Had 248bhp from his moment-cancelling engine. Should be smoothest 4-banger engine ever.

How's PNW treating you TWT?

Mooore on the Gurney lizard! Plz?

Sorry, I mis-remembered. It was his last patent, a twin with zero vibration due to two countre-rotating cranks. And it's 280-bhp! Also included in this patent is some new intake-tract design that improves air velocity and cylinder-filling.

In what appears to be simple chromoly trellis frame similar to his racecars that dominated IMSA GTO series in late-80s. Probably weighs in 450-500 lb range with improved aerodynamic seating. That would make for some exciting speed!!! :)

I had an '06 FZ1. I miss the smooth throttle response. My '18 MT10 handles better but lacks that forgiving nature.

Or similar to an Aprilia Shiver which never won anything
