Got Taken Out by an SUV

Wasn't going to create a thread, but retyping or retelling the story for everyone who asks is getting real old. So I am creating something I can share with others.

I was hit by someone failing to yield while taking a left on green. I was traveling in the opposite direction. I didn't have much time to react, just to lock front wheel of my supermotard. She wasn't moving too fast, but hit me almost head-on when I was moving about 30 MPH or so.

*IMPACT*

Wake up in an ambulance, not 100% what happened. Realize I didn't make it home. Feel lots of pain. Trying to remember what I was doing and where I am. Not 100% sure. Delivered to ER unit. Emma makes it there shortly. Cat scan of brain, 6 x-rays of pelvis, knees, legs and feet. Left pelvis doesn't look too good. Cat scan of left pelvis, followed by 2 more x-rays. Resident at the ER thinks I fractured the tip of the pelvis socket. Discharged at 4:35am.

Concussion, some memory loss, hyper-extended both thumbs, severe soreness and tightness in almost all muscles and joints. Lucky and happy to be alive. Was wearing full race leathers with race gauntlets and mid-shin boots. Icon Airframe helmet.

KTM triple-clamp bearing mount separated from truss frame in 2 upper spots completely and folded the forks into the engine, probably saving me a shattered pelvis and/or femurs. I flew first into my handlebars, folding my thumbs backwards, then over the bars and into their windshield, smashing that.

I spared you guys the photo editing... not sure why the ER tag said "Romeo".

Truss frame gave:

Aside from the usual pain and shit, what was super crummy is trying to sleep with a fracture in my pelvis. No matter what I did or how I shifted my weight, it kept me up at night. That just added to the irritation that the whole ordeal was.

I'm finally feeling much better, but still dealing with thumb/finger pain. Becoming more aparent now that I'm starting to ride my new bike with shorty levers. Also weird leg movements (think in bed with girlfriend) will make me jolt and grimace occasionally, hahaha :rofl

Battling with insurance now, working with a lawyer, still no money. I said fuck it and went out and got a replacement:

Glad u survived and are back again. :thumbup

Busted shit sucks. Needles suck. Being in pain hurts more than needles in the extreme.

Glad you posted and are making progress
The bike looks like one of those cartoon bikes now! Assuming the supertones didn't help much this time around but I've never seen them on a bike.
And big ups to Icon for saving your dome. Glad you're getting back in the saddle.
Moto safe and take it easy.

Glad you are okay and survived this. Hope you recover fast.

Did the SUV driver identified? Do you have his/her insurance record? Report filed against?

Yes, yes and yes. Got my lawyer working on it with a clean police report in my favor.

Glad to hear your ok; fu_king cagers....

Nice new ride; man that head hit looked big. Still getting headaches?

Make sure you document EVERYTHING, time off work, gas to docs/lawyers, every little thing. You want to them to reimburse you completely; you didn't deserve this, nobody does.

Hope you feel better soon!

Oh shit! Damn dude!

I'm glad you're in better shape than I would think with the way that could have turned out.

Nice new ride too! :thumbup

Been riding it for a week now, I'm going to have to agree. However, how the fuck does this bike cost $14K and not come with a slipper clutch. Coming from a 690, that was a major facepalm moment.

Not to mention: $1.2K for the OEM slipper unit? Seriously? Good thing Yoyodyne makes good ones for the SMR.

Trying to slide the rear for a few days now and already had some nasty wheelhop moments.
