I saw a few documentaries about how google and other companies knows more about you that even your own brian! I think there was a story about a tech company knew a girl was pregnant before she did based on the searches she made. That does sound like a huge invasion of privacy. I do feel google is very powerful and it’s always the default search engine in every browser and device I use. I am satisfied it gets the search job done quickly and I find what I want ASAP compared to Bing. Should google be punished for being the best in the industry? Do you guys think google is a monopoly? If you don’t like google, what search engines do you use and are they efficient as good as google? Let’s be polite here. I don’t think there are politics involved in this topic.

An argument might be made for search. Goog DOMINATES their marketshare there. For Ads, FB is a real deal competitor. I'm curious to see how it plays out.

For a long time AT&T was sued like every 10 years for antitrust violations, because they were just too damn good and Bell Labs had too many patents cranking out.

Breaking up the company and all that jazz invariably resulted in AT&T eventually dominating the Market again in time, but I think it was a net positive for markets in the mean time.

No it didn’t. All my collegues in the software and cloud industry said it was a matter of time for google to get sued.

In this country anybody can “sue” anybody for anything. All it takes is a bunch of money. File suit in the court system... If it is legitimate, something may come of it.

On the other hand, ANYBODY can put ANYTHING on the internet.

Yes, MS had a problem with their pre-installed Browser Practices back in the 90's. When Apple was in the trash bin for being Apple, Microsoft actually gave them money to stay in business, because they knew if they didn't, the DOJ would bring a major antitrust suit down on them, because even though Apple was not much competition, it was the only competition.

MS still never really lost their Desktop Marketshare, it is just that the market is no longer so much desktop.

Agreed, for search one can go to Bing or DuckDuckGo. Google just has the biggest market share.

For online ads, Facebook is a big competitor
