Golden gate toll question

Ok I thought I would get the opinion of the BARF before I pay this 7 dollar fine...

So sometime on november 7 i was going towards SF city on the golden gate bridge. Now i think i remember it saying "NO TOLL" and nobody was even stopped/stopping to pay for toll.

Is there a new system that i don't know about or am missing? Is this their way of pulling some reverse psychology on us to make us pay an extra few dollars? I don't know, i just need your guys insight/opinion on what happened. thanks!

You don't stop to pay at the GGB anymore. That's probably why you didn't see anyone stopped. I have no idea what the toll is on that bridge these days but if you don't have a FasTrak, they send an invoice to the address on your registration.

lol thanks for the quick replies. i usually dont take the golden gate coming into the city. I'm glad that there was not an error here.

Same thing happened to me man, I didn't know what was going on. The sign said don't stop so I just went on through and was like sweet its free. I don't go to SF ever really so I just took the picture they sent of me on my bike as a $7 souvenir

This . You don't need Fatsrak for that crossing. They used to allow motos through between 4-6 PM free, as a car pool deal. Don't know if they still do. The GGB Authority is SO greedy, I doubt there are any freebies now.

Don't be jerks, pay the toll. The GGB is not funded by the State of California; CALTRANS has no authority over the Bridge District. Everyday, ironworkers, painters, engineers, Bridge police work tirelessly to maintain the Golden Gate Bridge against the forces of nature so that you and your offspring will enjoy its grandeur for your lifetimes.

The only funding to pay for this work is... tolls. By covering your plates with your grubby paws, you chip away at the maintenance work, cheating yourself and your progeny of one of the wonders of modern engineering.

Don't be dicks.

How about the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District disband? Move the bridge to Caltrans. Have the bus and ferry service become self-funding. But I'm sure the 19-member board wouldn't want to lose their cushy six figure/year, 20 hour a week jobs. :laughing Not to mention the bus and ferry service will lose subsidies to keep operating. :x

The main reason that GGBHTD is in the ferry and bus business is to reduce traffic on the Golden Gate Bridge. Without the bus and ferry, there would be so much traffic on GGB that folks from the North Bay would never get into SF.

If you want good roads, good bridges, you have to pay for it.
There is no free lunch.
