I said it months ago.
Mooonbeam is asking for raise of the gas tax another 12 cents a gallon, vlf increases.
For those with electric vehicles you aren't immune.

Gov. Jerry Brown proposed raising $52 billion to fix roads through an increase in gas taxes along with higher car registration fees and a $100 charge on emission-free vehicles.

This is what happens when you mismanage the tax payers money and build bike lanes and horse trails amongst other things.

Talk amongst yourselves:wtf

If only the money we paid actually went to these things... And these things were properly managed.

I'm reading the Bill and its more of the same same.
They'll still be able to move money from highways to the general fund for shortfalls in other areas.

Yes we need roads, it has to be paid for.

However when you divert highway funds to the general fund to pay for other things your forgot to included in the budget.
That's just irresponsible.
Lets not forget Gray Davis.

"Republican lawmakers are against the hike. They argue Californians already pay enough."

Stupid republicans, what do they know? Double it, and raise the tax an extra 25 cents per gallon and raise registration fees an extra 50% or more on all vehicles. Raise the electric car fee to $250 in 2020. My electric car lease ends December 2019 anyways lol. I'm told all the time that California is the richest state in the union and compared to the rest of the world, 6th richest economy. No biggy, tax away Jerry.

What Jerry conveniently doesn't mention is CalPERS is $175 billion in the red. It needs to draw an annual return of 11% to be sustainable, but is only pulling 2.4% through ridiculously political investments. More taxes for roads just makes the sleight of hand easier to reallocate money to pay forward the obligations. If you're super wealthy you don't care about the balance sheet shenanigans. If you're an ordinary working stiff this is just more BOHICA courtesy of Sacramento.

Maybe it's time for horses to come back as the preferred commute "vehicle".

Horses, skateboards, tricycles... that would be fun.

Let me tell you how it will be
There's one for you, nineteen for me
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman
Should five per cent appear too small
Be thankful I don't take it all
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah I'm the taxman
If you drive a car, I'll tax the street,
If you try to sit, I'll tax your seat.
If you get too cold I'll tax the heat,
If you take a walk, I'll tax your feet.
Don't ask me what I want it for
If you don't want to pay some more
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman
Now my advice for those who die
Declare the pennies on your eyes
'Cause I'm the taxman, yeah, I'm the taxman
And you're working for no one but me.

Good ol' Grey, got himself bumped for increasing registrations. The popo & fire guys hand wringing about the loss of that tax increase.

If only those agencies had to pay civilian fees for their vehicles they wouldn't be for it. Or, , ,

E- plates for everyone.

Isn't gas taxes up around 35 cents a gallon now, but needs to be close to 50 cents?
