We’re closed to moved in to the new place. The 3 car garage Will be a combo of my gym and workshop. My townhouse workshop was in my two car garage, but that also included laundry and base cabinets all around. So really it wasn’t a full two car garage.

New place is open studs all around but no storage. There’s a janky workbench I might use but that’s bout it.

I’m thinking two stalls will be for the workshop at one store for the gym. Since we are renting it I don’t wanna screw stuff to the studs, I would prefer something freestanding.

Husky has some nice $300 freestanding cabinets. I don’t think I would need more than three really.

What has worked for you?

Anyone have any good ideas on the best shelving solution for an idea I have.

I was thinking of having one wall with shelves, but have two sections that I can park two bikes (preferably put a lift in one or both) at an angle that would not have any lower shelves, but sturdy enough to not need lower shelves as support? Does that make sense or is an illustration necessary?

Thanks!

With the unit I pictured, you could use the rear cross-braces only, leaving the front cross-braces off for 2 of the 3 shelves, and it would be plenty secure. The four attachment points on each cross-brace make it very stable with even just a single shelf.

I’ll have to Think about the open rack idea. I was looking for something enclosed because of sawdust.

These guys do nice stuff that you'll want to take with you when you leave. I've got my garage outfitted with a decent amount of the proline stuff from a few years ago. On garage cabinets: spend the money for good stuff. I've had crap and it was a waste of $600. You'll spend 3X for what you want/ need from Newage, but they're great for the price point they fit.

I've put them in two other places of ours as well.

I have those too, work great. Can hook multiple ones up in line too if you want.

Yea, I have these too.

Once you suss out the first set they go up in less than 10 minutes. Super easy to assemble, no tools necessary, and, yea, you can connect them end to end. You can't make a seamless corner, but you can make long shelves out of two shorter ones.

My singular complaint with that is that the shelves come with wire racks. If that works for you, then out of the box, you're set to go.

If not, you may want to look in to replacing with plywood or something else.

But that's all good, as they are designed to easily replace the wire with wood. I did it to one of my shelves (I had some spare plywood, so I cut it up and used it for this rather than just toss it out).

I add heavy duty zipties in the corner to hold the wire rack in place, and supplement with plywood where I want to put smaller things on it (like under the batteries on the second shelf.)
