FYI: Ignore List feature

The Ignore List was a useful feature to hide posts and that was the limit of its capabilities. I recently learned that in the last year or two it gained the ability to prevent PM's from being delivered to your Inbox. In the past, if someone on your Ignore List sent a PM It would still show up in your Inbox. That doesn't happen anymore.

how about making it so you cant see threads started by the people you block? is that do-able?

Biggest issue with the ignore feature for me, on any forum, has been it doesn't do anything for other users who quote the person. Makes it kinda pointless in practice.

There used to be an app you could run on Firefox that would run a script to block any screename you chose. That includes any time they post as well as anytime someone quotes them.

Paging Nick to the Firefox assistance courtesy phone! :laughing

It was some kind of plugin, it worked brilliantly, and then a VBulletin update broke it.

I don't have anybody on ignore these days.

What a bunch of lazy people! :rolleyes

I ignore posters the old fashioned way by seeing their name and skipping over anything that they wrote. :afm199

Actually, I've never felt the need to ignore anybody on BARF, but I've been bothered by a few disgusting avatars. I don't understand why anybody would want to be associated with such things. Maybe I should blame it on old age. How hard would it be to modify the ignore feature to just not show the avatars of certain people - I still want to see the others, though.

Hoping the sarcasm here just flew over my head.

You can turn off avatars in the user CP
I don't want to turn off ALL avatars, just the ones the jump around and won't hold still, and the few disgusting ones. Normally they're useful to identify a poster at a glance. But sometimes I think some BARF members couldn't possibly be good people to willingly have the avatars that they choose to display.

I'll shut up now. I've had this discussion in the past and nobody was happy with the results.

Oh I see. It's personal. : |

Take your own advice and just keep scrolling the old fashioned way, like you suggested people do with posts.

I use the old fashioned way as wel, no one on my ignore listl. I also believe if we cant put mods or admins on ignore they should not be allowed to put members on ignore. my :2cents

Now ignore in real life :thumbup

Above all I like to play.

I think this would be a useful feature too. I imagine it would have to be something vBulletin would have to implement though.
