So this happened today at Cow Mtn. Epic conditions including rain and snow but there was a great turn out and a lot of work got done clearing a trail.

For those unfamiliar with FOCM it is a non profit started a few years ago to help improve the trails at Cow Mountain OHV. They have been working with the BLM and have received grant money to make improvements. We had ten or eleven Barfers there today working. As the weather improves there will be more of these opportunities to help get the place ready to reopen hopefully sometime later this year. Here are some pics from today.

If any of you folks want to come help keep an eye out here in the dirty forum as we will post up before the next one so folks know about it. Fun times! Woot!

Moab on my mind
That's more snow than is in my backyard and I didn't ride because of snow. You guys shamed me.

(Did the rangers check you for spark arrestors?)

There was a safety meeting and all rules were adhered to. Serious efforts were made and the BLM ranger Ashley did a great job. I didn’t see any bikes without spark arrestors. Not that there is much left to burn up there at this point.

If there’s a follow-up working party, I’d like to help out with trail maintenance!

That awesome thanks! There will definitely be other opportunities! I'm hoping there is a two day camp out in the spring. :thumbup

OaklandF4i and I are going to their meetings and hope to coordinate getting Barfers informed about their work parties and possibly others with PWORA. FOCM and PWORA have facebook pages you could follow. We attended a planning meeting with these groups earlier in the month where we learned more about them and what they are hoping to do as the grant money comes in. The Cow Mtn BLM rangers were also there and spoke about their hopes for improving OHV recreation at Cow Mtn. FOCM will have a role in helping make this happen too.

Cant wait to get our riding areas back, and actually getting involved in the process feels like a great way to help make it happen ASAP. And hey I got to ride my motorcycle with about 30 other nuts through the snow at Cow! Woot!

Great day in the snow. Some folks enjoyed riding in it more than others.... :rofl

We have been attending meetings and trying to keep abreast of work opportunities up north. The Friends of Cow Mtn and Ashley from the Ukiah office of the BLM have been incredible. They know how to get it done!

I hope no one is or was offended, but I did not start a thread here for this past work day. This was due to the high probability of another Govt Shutdown and the weather. I will add a thread here for the next one and request to have it stickied to the top of the Dirty Forum.

Barfers present

Me, Daniel, Baby Daniel, Drew, Rob, Baby Michael, Dima, Chris, Gwynn, Gwynns friend (I'm sorry I forget her name), and Adam

Polaris banner for this work day. Appropriate? I think so..... :laughing

We will be posting up here Butch.

I didnt this time because I frankly had very little faith that it was going to actually happen due to weather and another potential govt shutdown. If that had happened, we wouldnt have had time to communicate the closure and had a bunch folks showing up to an empty lot and locked gate. :thumbup
