First Track Day!

Jobbo

Hmmmm....
Just needed to get this off my chest. Holy crap, I can’t believe I waited this long!

After riding for 20 years, spending no time on the bikes due to family, and now riding mostly a BMW tourer with the wife, I finally convinced myself to do a track day.
Went to T’hill with Carters, and to avoid all the logistics used a FLAP bike, and had the biggest smile on my face. I’ve read posts here before about “just do it” and can’t agree more (now).

So, nothing informative in this post at all, but thank you all for convincing me unknowingly. See you at the next one!

Congratulations. I'm sure you'll be attending many more and getting a track only bike now lol.

Yea!
I try to tell folks... do a track day. It will change your life. It could save your life. You will never do some of that shit in public roads again.

The racetrack is a wonderfully humbling and thrilling experience.

The corkscrew at Laguna is really a hoot. Doooo it.

It's a game changer for sure. It changed my life in many ways.
Spent lots of money for track days, spent money on coaching then track bikes, got into AFM, spent more money lol. But the experience, lessons learned and relationships formed are priceless. It probably is a life saver too IMO; the lessons learned on track translated to a different approach and perspective when riding street.

Welcome to the addiction, the support group meets every Wednesday.

I would prefer to do all of that on the track, where I could crash as safely as possible, than crash on the street and hit a tree or some other solid object.

If you methodically learn how to go faster and you're appropriately smooth on your controls, there's plenty of time to sense "the limit" and even come back after you've crossed the threshold.

500K plus miles and counting. The older I get, the slower I go, but getting better at bench racing ;)

Ride long enough and eventually you’ll probably fall down. The track is the safest place for that to happen. First time I fell at the track I was very pleased to find that my fear of falling went away, because I discovered it’s just not that bad (usually). Of course nobody wants to fall, and if you’re interested in learning to ride with some speed and do so safely, then the path is professional training. Of course you have to figure out your own comfort level and risk tolerance, but it is possible to get better with a reasonable degree of safety.
