Self made rider
Hey BARF,
After almost 3 years of riding, I got into my first accident on 1/11/15 @ 4:30pm on a residential street in Salinas.
Had the infamous "car turned in front of me" accident and had a fraction of a second to react, you guys weren't kidding.
Well i hit the car and immediately flipped in the air; while i came rightside up, i saw a parked SUV and realized i was going to smack into it...luckily i hit it ~30ft away, perfectly upside down against my back so i didn't break my neck or my spine severely.
It was very surreal because i was conscious the entire time, even gave my full statement to the police and patient feedback to the medics before getting onto the stretcher.
I am currently typing this on my hospital bed the night before i am discharged and this whole time I've been in this weird haze realizing that i should not have survived this.
Is this normal?
I love riding and it is my one true passion in life, however i am quitting riding on the road because i cannot put my SO in this sort of predicament again...although she supports me if i wanted to ride again.
Police determined at the scene that the other party was at fault.
I was wearing almost full gear at the time as well
