Why invest in creating a special bike, then leave the OEM suspension on it ? Lame styling exercise, BMW.

yea I agree. This bike definitely needs the Öhlins package...that should be standard! But other than that, I can't find much not to like...!

You don't see ohlins there because BMW has electronic controled dampning system slated to be part of this new package....

19.8 lbs lighter than a stock S1000RR (@ 455.5 lbs).

Yea, saw that Dynamic Damping Control, ILOAD2. A semi-active system with 3 presets (edited). I remember reading about it in one of the motorcycle mags.

They released this HP Package in UK, I believe for track use only... adding a full system Akro, programmable ECU, GPS timer, and maybe a couple other things. That's cool that they package them better to make this HP4 available worldwide.

that would be like an F-14 pulling a banner along the beach.

Uh...Surely you don't equate Ebbetts pass with a flat straight beach...but who knows, maybe Ya do.

The S1000RR BMW with benifits (wouldn't kick the stocker out of bed, though) Most certainly could be a back road blaster...and a sweet way to get to the back roads, from the conjested City.

Nothing is for everyone, though. I'd just like to meet the rider that is sick enough to buy a sick bike. :ride

Honestly... It might just be the photo, but this looks like something a Ducati fan might throw together in their garage... Mish-mash of plastic body work and carbon fiber. Not as sexy as the HP2, IMO.

Ohlins makes electronically adjustable suspension components. I believe Ducati uses them on the premier Multistrada.

:facepalm

All the Highways on the west side of the Sierras are essentially the same up to the summits and would be OK for this bike. But where 4 and 108 get interesting is down the east side, and a DRZ would be a lot more fun than this bike there. The BMW would never get out of first gear and would be overkill. THAT is what I am saying.

I would do the summit run on this bike on 108 and 88 before I would do 4. And that is just my opinion. I know you are partial to 4, but to me, west of Lake Alpine is just another road with too many Harleys clogging it up and I avoid it.

I do cool it a tad, West of Lake Alpine...cause it is civilized, having a centerline, and Normal people going about Normal living, and all...And I pick my days....rarely bother to get out on the road that Weekenders are using (Part of the curse of being normal is working normal days, or even working as far as that goes). I hate 108 and 88...people that like a full lane with a centerline saying where their lane is...use those roads.

I like having the road to myself...no complications from others.
If I liked traffic, I'd go to the Bay Area...so called back roads...where there is no shortage of cars clogging them.

Course I'm weird, if I had a BMW S1000RR (or anything else in that general league) I'd put the handle bars and Scotts Damper on it, and other chassis and suspension tweeks...for where I'm using it...which isn't the way they come.

My bike is versitile...after making the modifications...distance and time, mean nothing..Multistate tours are just a ride, no pain. Steep tight rough road twisties are just a ride...Great ride without complaints...everything is easy peasy :ride (maybe You don't get out of low gear, East of Lake Alpine, but I use all the gears)

:rofl

But hey, don't all the OEM Ohlin's forks and shocks suck compared to the real aftermarket ones? If you really needed Ohlins level suspension wouldn't you end up having to swap out the internals on them anyway...
