Ever use those "Sell your gold" sites?

We have some old silverware we wanted to get rid of. Local dealer said not to go to pawn shops so we were looking at https://www.sellyourgold.com/
Anyone used one of these sites? One better than the next? I realize there are risks in these types of dealings, so I'm just hoping someone had good\fair results from one. Of course it's nearly impossible to find legit reviews out there because they are all paid sites which advertise one or the other. Thoughts?

TBH you might do better trying to sell it on eBay or the like- some of the silver patterns are hard to source and sell for a lot more than the value of the raw silver.

Craigslist, there’s always gold bugs looking to buy without paying the buy/sell split. Of course Craigslist is full of nuts.

I've owned a licensed pawnshop for 23 years supporting local charities and a local staff of 15 people.

In 23 years, I have had exactly zero retail or wholesale customers pay me extra for any pattern or type of silver flatware. Are there people in the world who would pay more? Yes. Connecting the flatware with those people is not easy, and not worth the extra money ABOVE MELT VALUE. As such, I've been very happy to melt one of a kind Shreve + Co handmade vases and other similar pieces knowing that is the most I can get for it.

Having said that, I will pay you 90% of the melt value for any type of sterling silver.

Bear in mind, I do not receive 100% of melt value when I sell it, and I must pay all the expenses of a regular business conducting legal and licensed gold and silver buying.

There are people who may object to me paying that 90% of melt, saying I'm ripping people off. I don't consider a 2-3% profit as ripping people off. But people think the world is flat and will shout in your face about it. I didn't get to where I am after 23 years by ripping people off.

Further, there are many off license dealers who may pay more because they are able to operate outside of the business and professions codes, and penal codes, for buying property from the public. It is what it is and there isn't enough enforcement in this area.

You might use ebay or etsy or some other marketplace to try to connect with someone who will pay whatever you want for your silver.

If you are interested in selling to a reputable licensed dealer, PM me.

I just checked out sellyourgold.com and those prices they show they paid for some of those things are fucking ridiculous. They are proud to show a coin that I would pay you $1800 for right now and they said they paid $1,079.99.
