i made it through like.... 6 posts. too many words, must log in to see pictures. when does it get fun?

is it better than the guy that tried to get mercedes to buy a new engine for his AMG mini van being the 2nd owner, tens of thousands of miles past warranty and no documented service?

I’d like a super car that has a bit of a history to it so the collectors stay far away and I can dive the piss out of it and not feel bad. You know, stuff like drive it all the way to Washington, or across the country.

Kind of like the one this Ed Bolian bought off of a stripper. (I’d get it fixed AND DETAILED at a reputable shop though)

You’re attention span lasts longer then mine Berto. I stopped reading as soon as I read he was working with a 308. If it wasn’t for Magnum PI, I doubt many people would give two shits about that Ferrari.

HAHAHAHAH The seller, ExcelsiorZ is still alive? How is that possible? He's been ripping people off since 2000 or so. I feel a little bad for the guy who bought the project form him in the first place. The shop doing the work may or may not be working very well but I'll bet if they knew it was bought from that guy they would've turned down the job in the first place.

I didn't get very far either. Mostly some bitching about being charged for an email or summat? Whatevz.

The car in question... a 288 GTO "tribute"? So, you take the lowest end Ferrari (308), go at it with some fiberglass, add motor from a newer model, and try to emulate a seven figure homologation special and wonder why you have problems?

So, I'm guessing the 308 had drivetrain issues and/or a blown motor. It probably also had cosmetic issues if you're going to replace or modify a bunch of body panels.

The 355 motor probably came from a wrecked car.

So, two boned cars cobbled together to replicate a super-rare car and the guy wonders why there are issues? That the jist of the story?

Just buy a 348 or whatever and call it a day, if you MUST have a Ferrari in your garage.

Pretty much this, plus the players. The original seller of the "project" is a known shiester in the Ferrari world (I'm in the Porsche world and know about him) and the shop in question doesn't have the greatest rep either.

So not only did he (OP) try to make something out of crap, he got involved with crap people as well. Probably been cutting corners all his life and wonders why it always turns to shit on him.

Sounds like he shoulda gone the Fiero route.

Or just rekanized a 288, even a replica, is not realistic and just slummed it with a 308 or 348.

Yeah as soon as I opened this thread I knew Buckley was involved somehow.

That guy is a ripoff legend.

I know, it makes me want to get a job at a Lambo dealer :laughing

Although around here I don't think it would be nearly as interesting.

i dunno.

i think lost gatos lamborghini would be fun to work at, and the prostitutes would just be a little harder to spot... like the .com boom when the guys in stained sweatpants were buying sports cars on the spot... if the salesmen would even talk to them.

Moral of the story:

Don't buy stupid projects. Especially not sight unseen.

And the corollary: If you want a Ferrari (or whatever), but that thing, not some hacked up piece of shit.

I gave up on the thread for this reason. Project is a Frankenrrari that was never going to be nice or worth the time and money.

308/328 dont make my bits tingle, but a 288 gto does. The idea to take a ho hum 308 and do it right is not a bad idea. Sounds like thats not what happened here.

There was a lot of attention for that recent Dino resto mod project. And that thing is BEAUTIFUL. Similar work on a 308 would be great too!
