Easy Fire

FACK! In my town now. No power, fires burning, I'm in Kansas City. As long as the wind keeps blowing the way it is, I should be good.

Hope y'all up north are safe. Most of us should be safe down here.

For info, this is in Simi Valley, in this area (34.279, -118.820). The name is from Easy Street, at the east end of that area. Coverage at ktla.com, foxla.com, etc.

Wow yeah, it took me a second reading the two posts to see what is this about.

"Easy Fire" sounded like a product like "Sam Wow" or something

Looks like all Sonoma County towns dodged a bullet.

Less than 200 structures lost which is simply amazing.

Best of luck to you and yours in the LA area.

My friends who lost their home in the 2017 fire up here in Santa Rosa are returning to their land today and should move into their new home in 10 days at most.

Thanks. They've shut everything down today. People have forgotten how to drive. The local PD's FB page is full of accidents from people not stopping at intersections because they've turned off all the power. It's a mess. Almost glad I'm at work.

We kept power but my friend who was in Maine did not and I have a key to his house as he loaded his wife's car in the garage in their valuables just as a precaution before they left on the Friday before the Saturday power loss.

He had a bunch of frozen salmon he caught and was worried about it as was I.

Believe it or not it survived in the freezer as it was at the very bottom, for 96 hours but other stuff higher in the freezers, (the fucker had two for me to tend), did not.

Yesterday AM we moved all the surviving frozen food to my friend's large freezer he had kept dry ice in as it wouldn't have lasted much longer.

Key is not to open the freezer and, ideally, have the most valuable stuff at the bottom of the freezer no matter the design, (they had a stupid side by side and a more rational top freezer downstairs).

The fridges were no problem as I made 2 large blocks of ice in succession, (I had started before the shutoff as I was afraid I'd lose power), and 1 block would last 2 days in a stainless steel hotel pan).

The 25 percent that was not frozen in the fridge was cold enough to use so we handed it out and people cooked it right away.

Anyone want some freaking bacon?

That OCD wife of his had 8 packages of bacon in the freezer.

But, in the pantry, the lunatic has over 20 boxes of Rice A Roni and they are both over 60 and my friend Jim has high blood pressure.

I think she's trying to kill him. :laughing
