drug and explosive/weapons sniffing dogs patrolling middle schools?

NEED DECALS? PM ME!!!!
:wtf

received a notice today that later this month there will be police K9's at my kids middle school searching for weapons and explosives for the rest of the year, the notice also mentioned that the dogs would be searching for drugs as well.
how exactly is this legal? As a competitive shooter my son often picks up brass for me and has in the past helped resize and prep cases for me. Im at the point where im not surprised by anything that happens in schools anymore but for a city with no money and a city council that complains about the lack of police they can put on the streets this kinda pisses me off, and don't even get me started about the whole constitutionality of this, it seems like this would be a direct infringement on the 4th amendment.

last thing i need is for the swat team to bust down my door because a dog alerted the cop to explosive material on his shoes or something.

Is this what things are really coming to in the bay area?:rolleyes

If I were a bored, disaffected middle schooler, hell, I'd go out of my way to find shit that would set the dogs off. :laughing I'd douse myself in weed tinged C4 perfume just to fuck with them a little. What else you gonna do... civics?

Worked at Rancho Medanos Junior High....totally understand the the dogs sniffing around.

Funny thing during a staff meeting. Vice principle mentioned to scare the kids he was going to contract out a service and have dogs come into the classroom early in the year to sniff around for drugs/weed. He specified that the dogs WOULD NOT sniff around the teachers desk. Bunch of teachers sighed in relief :laughing

So fucking Un-American. While I never got to bring my .22 on the bus to school per se, I never in my wildest dreams would have envisioned drug dogs going through schools in the same fashion they do prisons.

Schools nowadays are nothing more than state-run daycare, sickening.

that would be the school he is going to actually, small world huh? my kid just got his report card and pulled almost all A+'s. had about a 4.25 gpa and was 1 of 3 in the school to do it. I am thinking during the parent info meeting they are having about this I am going to inform them that he won't be going to school on days when they have a dog looking for criminals.

I wish i could send him to a private school but there is no way to afford it and i can't home school him like i did through his fourth grade year as my health and sanity wouldn't hold up:|

for those that don't know rancho medanos is actually a good school out here. the only downside i see to it is that it does look and operate like a youth detention center.:nchantr

step 1) wait until lawn gets fertilized

step 2) immediately walk on fertilized lawn for a bit

step 3) scream like a b*tch when dogs sniff out nitrates.

step 4) Hire Burris and make it into a civl rights issue

step 5) Profit!!

Optional Step 6) when some hoodie/trenchcoat wearing 'disaffected" youth who would have been caught by the dogs you had removed goes off, sue the "ineffective" police for more money.

option 6 doesn't happen in hoods. it is a white middle class suburban problem.
i wont make a huge fuss out of it, i just won't have my kid go to school.:thumbup

Great School and I have HUGE respect for the Principal and vice princpals there :thumbup You are correct though that behavior is a priority and the admin staff doesnt play around. Gift and a curse to a degree. Things might have calmed down since Pittsburg was to open a 3rd middle school and relieve the other two of being over enrolled.

Gang awareness is huge which I what I'm sure they are targeting. The uniforms help but those kids find ways. Changing the laces in their shoes to red. Wearing a red belt. Changing the draw strings in their school hoodies to red. Wearing red undershirts. Can't believe it starts in middle school but it dose.

This is the vision of things to come. The Sad part is, people except this. Hell I pulled my kid out of Public school when they brought the teaching of Islam into the the 7th grade in 2002

yeah they have done away with everything colored, pretty much if you wear a colored shirt under or outer you go home. only hoodies that can be worn is the grey one's they sell. shoes are either all white or all black with matching laces. the big thing the gang influenced kids are doing now is using duct tape on there back pack straps to tell who is who:rolleyes

Your kid goes to a Pittsburg public school?

That's why....

my wife teaches in concord, the school in pittsburg scores higher than any middle school in concord, there's some perspective for ya. the neighborhood i live in doesn't have nearly the crime as the surrounding areas and is by far safer then the place i used to live in concord.

to answer corndog,
no new spikes in gang activity or current issue's at the school.

^^^^ yeah; Concord high school are not playground..... Concord High specificially was one of the WORST schools i've ever substituted for, back when i was in that gig. Elk Grove middle school (also in Concord, and is a feeder school for Concord High) was by far, and daymn DAYMN i mean by far, the worst middle school i've ever subbed for... dont get me wrong, pittsburg is pretty ghetto - but Concord is quite comparable.

Nothing unconstitutional about a dog sniff. Case law has supported that for YEARS. Don't want your kid in trouble? Don't let him bring drugs or guns to school. I would be pleased as punch to have the cops at my kid's school making sure he isn't exposed to drugs or guns.

Or... Wait until Shitsburg has a school shooting and then complain that cops didn't take any preventative measures.

None of us who are 40+ had any drug/gun inspections in middle school, and we turned out fine. And NO, don't tell me that times are different, because they aren't. There are NOT more kids doing/dealing drugs today then there were back then. And as for guns in middle school? OK sure it happens from time to time, but not enough to waste money on inspections, IMO.

Dumbass paranoid police state we live in. So crime and a few deaths happen from time to time, big deal, you're never going to prevent all of it.
