Do you change tube when changing tires?

Wondering how many change their inner tube with every tire change?

I dont change inner tube with every tire changes. 2 fucking times it has happened to be on a ride I got a flat tire due to stem failure. Not a puncture. My patch kit is worthless in this scenario and I do not usually carry a spare rear tube on Mines/Mt Hamnilton rides. Fortunately today I trailered my SM to Mines and only had to foot it half a mile before getting a ride to my truck.

Im am seriously considering spending the extra $14 bucks for a new tube wiht every tire change I do.

I mount my own tires. I am very careful with inner tube. I do not tighten the nut all the way down to the rims on the inner tube. I have heard that if you tighten the nut all the way making contact with the rim, the inner tube stem will not have any play and might cause failure.

I mount my own tire, in an ideal world I put a new tube in, sometimes, to be honest I didnt, nothing happened, just take your time do it right.

Not unless there's something wrong with the tubes (loosing air or nicked, cracked, etc). I've had tubes last almost two years with multiple tires and still not loose any air. No point in paying more money if you don't have to in my opinion. Besides it's not like you don't carry a spare with you, right? That being said, I use UHD tubes...

I'm down for replacing 'em unless I know exactly how old they are and how much abuse they've seen. I'd rather spend $40 on a new set of tubes than have to try and fix a flat way the hell out in the desert with no other transpo back to the truck (if I were on dirt) or blow a tire on the track and eat it (if I were on my motard).

For me it's a judgement call when changing the tire.

If the old tube looks good and feels good (supple not stiff/crispy) then I'm comfortable with reusing the old tube.

I always advise tube tire customers to keep/bring fresh spare tubes just in case when changing tires. You never know until you remove the tire and inspect the tube.

i mount my own tires and i only change them if the stem shows signs of rust or like tireguy said "crispy"

then again on all my bikes with tubes i always tighten the stem nut and have never had a leak from the stem tearing YMMV

my rear tire always kept perfect tire pressure for 9,000+ miles...why change something that has worked, so well?...just changed the rear tire and used the same tube....

front tire...at near 10,000 miles, it met a flying solid steel rake on the 280...tire and tube were gone...$171 for ~$108 tire, ~$30 tube and $32 installation at santa clara cycles...
