Dear Harley Lane Splitter...

Dude, you have no clue what you're doing or how bad you make us all look with your juvenile riding. Please do the 2 wheeled community a HUGE favor and sell your lump of a bike. You don't deserve to call yourself a motorcyclist. It's only a matter of time before you jelly up the highway. You're an accident looking for a place to happen. :loser

(This no muffler jackass was slaloming between cars on the 101 at a 35+mph delta when traffic was already moving along at 65mph. :nchantr )

Not to beat a dead horse (is it dead yet?), but this is why lane sharing laws (if we ever get any) will have maximum speed and maximum delta limits.
Maybe 50 is too slow for a maximum speed, but 15 is just fine as a delta.
I doubt that in all the times I've split, while living in California, and during visits after leaving, I've ever exceeded a 10 mph delta. Saved me from serious injury in my first crash, way back in 1969, when a lane-changer deflected me into the back of a car at the front of the gap he was trying to enter.

Ya know I used to think splitting with Harley's and the alike was ok... they make an aweful lot of noise and people move out of their way.
Why? they make a lot of noise and scare people.
But after watching this one guy I was behind on 680 on Wednesday rev the hell out of his motor (I mean really rev the hell out of it) I was annoyed so just hopped over one lane and got past him and his 20mph delta.

AYE YAH!
Is it just me or does it seem like there are a lot more riders lane splitting/sharing in all lanes, all the time now? ...specifically multi lane freeways.

Are these guys from out of state or what the hell?

BTW Whammy - I think I saw this same guy yesterday slaloming through lanes 1 and 2 on 101.
Then he straight up swung right over all lanes almost hitting my cars' front left quarter panel because he decided he would do this multi lane change without looking. All this in heavy commute traffic. :rolleyes

yours isn't a real Harley

It won't leak oil, makes over 100hp stock, has double overhead cams, and even the Aerostitch wearing Bimmer riders think it's kinda cool. Yeah...that's about as opposite as it gets from a "real" H-D.

Too much monkey business like this..
Just unsafe, and seriously it scares people.
No wonder the jug of hateraide is sooo full these days.
Personally I try and educate people I drive with, and talk to about lane sharing.
I tell them to look before you change lanes not just flip over ,and not look.
If a driver signals its easier for us to see their intentions.
Over the years its gotten more easier to see what someone is going to do before the do it ,but you cant rely on you being 110% alert 200% of the time.
One thing I wish all Motorcycle companies would do is make 4 way flashers on every bike.
I believe Ducati's have this by default? IDK
Some sort of way to signal people we are coming is better than becoming part of someone's door or under a big rig.

There is a patched bike club here, that the guys ride within a couple feet of each other at high speed, 80-100mph, that blasts down the shoulder when the catch up to a bunch of cars. Kind of hairy, but I've seen them do it plenty of times. I guess they practice or something. Haven't heard of them crashing .
