This is from 2002 but posted on youtube today.

In 2000 [David Jefferies] broke the 125mph barrier; in 2002's Duke F1 race he obliterated his own record with an incredible 126.68mph lap - then went even faster in the Senior at an astonishing 127.29mph! Sit back and watch the master at work as he commentates on a lap around the famous Isle of Man TT course.

This was an "Extra" on an IOM DVD I purchased the year before his death. Stunning footage coupled with the relaxed narration by a true IOM legend.
I smile every time I think of him uttering the under stated phrase "....this section can be a bit bumpy..." while the images on the screen depict a frightening steering head shake that tosses him out of his seat.....while doing 180 mph surrounded by unforgiving cobblestone walls. Unbelievable stuff.
I confess, I have a hard time watching that these days as I am forced to hear his voice calmly describing what would lead to his demise in 2003.
The phrase "we all know where we were when Kennedy was shot" comes immediately to mind as I reflect on the moment I got the bad news about David. I was at my kid's swim team meet reading the now defunct weekly Cycle News between their swim race heats. I was glad I was near a pool wearing sun glasses. I didn't have to explain the tears in my eyes.
He was...and still is one of my very favorite riders. It didn't hurt that he did it all on GSXRs.

I didn't mean to bring anybody down. Sorry, Jeff. Jefferies was indeed something special and he was a hero especially to a lot of big guys. He showed that you didn't have to be built like a jockey to go fast on a bike.

No, you certainly didn't bring me down. I caught myself feeling that way when I dusted off that particular DVD recently, that's all.
It's kinda weird how this shit works. I hadn't thought of that video in years and no sooner do I revisit it on my own it makes yet another organic appearance.
I'm glad you posted it up. People should see what that man was capable of.
