Kind of like Pinocchio, but with a different body part. We should take a cue from the Danes and be less uptight about these things.
This is wrong for so many reasons. Small children don’t know what their genitals are for and don’t pay any attention to them until their awareness grows with age. This has worked pretty well up to now. Also I think the theme of this cartoon will make little girls feel inferior to boys since having and using a penis is the focus of the show. Then there’s the whole size thing with boys who will undoubtedly compare theirs to the cartoon-sized character’s organ.
I'm somewhere between these two opinions here - one one hand, we have a pretty crippling amount of body shame in this country, and think seeing a naked person in any context is immediately sexual/sensual. We should do what we can to get past that.
On the other hand, the last thing young people need is reinforcement of the idea that "I can save this kitten from a tree, because I have a cock" or "I can drive a race car, because I have a cock" or "I am the greatest thing to have ever happened to our species, because I have a cock" because seriously, there's plenty enough of that in the world.
