edit: I've noticed this before, and I find this particularly fucked up. Have a look at where most of these people with prior child molestation convictions live. In almost every case, they are just a couple blocks from a school.
Now, I think that when you are dealing with a crime with high recidivism rate, maybe you could tailor some legislation toward lessening the temptation. I don't think child molesters should be allowed to live within 20 miles of a school, much less somewhere where school kids have to walk by their house every day.

Don't get panicked just because you see a name on there either. Check the offense. I know one guy that made it onto that list for pissing in an ally in SF, and I know another one who made it onto the list for grabing a big handful of a girls ass at a club.
Not to say these fellas should be excused, but honestly I think it's a bit silly to put those sort of offenders on the list with Molesters and Rapists.
