Crashing out of the lead

how about some quick crash videos from one of my races this past week? ya, i crashed out of the lead. ya, it really sucked. hopefully this is my only crash for the year, *knock on wood.

the bike and my body were fine after that. after replacing a bar, a footpeg, and a helmet, i was still able to make my 2 other races that day. in the last one of the day, i managed to get 3rd. so it wasnt all bad.

Onboard

Track Photog does video now too

Well, you've given up your right to deniability if anyone ever asks you, "You ever go down on a tar snake, boy?"

So, did the front just tuck on you there?

ya i didnt feel any warning. the wiggles from the onboard felt like normal hard braking wiggles, esp since the track is quite bumpy just before that. then it just went.

Not as fast as I look.
I think you were leaning/braking faster than your practice speed. The tarmac looks sketchy with the snakes, and the dust you kicked up. Shit happens at the envelope edge. Remember to lick it closed, next time. :teeth

the data shows that i stood the bike up before the crash. the lateral acceleration was decreasing more than other laps for ~0.8sec before going down and was eventually less than other laps. i was going ~5mph faster at that point than my PR for the day. but its nothing that i havent done before in faster laps or when running wide there.

the data shows ~25deg of lean angle from the lateral acceleration. but the video seems to show less. with me hanging off there, the bike's lean angle was prob <15deg, which should allow more braking force than i was asking for.

really, i just should have paid attention more, avoided the tar snaked AND not pushed the braking marker some.

Ouch. cold tire start?

nah, that was the 2nd lap and there are def enough hard braking zones around AutoClub to heat the front tire.
