Cop saved me today

Cop saved me today. Installed my Valentine V1 on my 1199. Working great, but let's see if it can see the Ka band through my body. Where are there cops? Alice? Too far. Let's try the 25mph limit Redwood rd, heard there's always cops out there. Found two.

One was at the entrance of Redwood Rd, another after Redwood with Pinehurst, closer to Oakland. On the way back, there was a third one with the radar off, Castro Valley Sherriff but with a young cop at the wheel (aren't Sheriffs 50 something guys making 400K/year?) . I split right into him, side by side at the traffic light. I leave with a *little* more throttle than usual, braaaaap, accelerate quickly but stop at 39mph (limit posted right on my face was 35). Eyes glued on the V1 and mirrors. Cop was glued to my tail, he also went quick. Next stop light, I split into a couple of cars ahead. Cop still behind me, probably typing my licence on his laptop. I leave with even more noise, I can feel the drivers in cages salivating, "that idiot didn't see the cop behind me, go get the fucker!", I'm sweating, eyes on my radar radar sees nothing. What's wrong with this cop? All this last 2 seconds, I have to slow down quick at 10 over limit, damn those Ducs are fast.

Uninterested cop turns right behind me into some sort of food court, and in my stupid mind games, I lost my exit. I then have to make a u-turn, but I'm alone and the traffic light won't turn green for me. It's hot out there. It's been 2 cycles, nothing, I have the right to go, just waiting for traffic to clear. Where's that cop again? Did he see me waiting for two damn cycles? It's gonna be my word against his in traffic court, fuck it. At this moment Cop leaves the court behind a pickup truck ahead of me on my right, and sees me trying to move the bike around to see if I can trigger something.

He turns on his siren quickly, sounded like woot, woot, with his hand outside the window signaling for me to go ahead on the red light. Traffic is clear, I just go with a scraping peg like u-turn for show in part to retribute the favor - nothing looks better than a Ducati at big lean, so here's that. It was 95F outside, this cop guy, he understands. He saved me! I was cooking in full gear, with my Panigale exhaust already melting my seat. THANK YOU!!

I leave and wave at him. This cop must have been a rider! Wish I could buy him a beer. Cheers unknown nice Castro Valley cop! :thumbup

Don't assume too much. Some people are just thoughtful and will help, including leos. And leos will tend to be more aware of what is going on. Non-riding strangers pick-up bikes for fallen riders, for example. :ride

I always check my mirrors but it is cool how V1 will show Ka getting stronger and stronger from behind. after a couple minutes a moto cop reveals himself from behind a taller vehicle.

Cops around there aren't too bad. I was let off with a warning by Alameda sheriff at 7am on a Saturday on the 580 east of Castro valley doing about a buck in my nsx. Traffic was ripping pretty good around 80 but I decided to tag a long with a suburban going even faster.

A CHP cop waved thanks to me the other day on 101 . I left a car's distance in front of me because he was signaling and I let him merge from 3 to 4. :laughing in a 20mph traffic jam ..

BTW JFyi slowrex those Crown Vic red turn signals are actually damn hard to see if they're signaling..

Yeah, also I had my awesome BARF licence plate holder, so I wonder if the donation to the 1199 foundation had something to do with it? Or was it that the Ducati 1199 = Ducati 11-99? Good omen right there.

Who is going to be the first Barfer, WITH the BARF licence plate, to get a ticket, I wonder? :laughing

This is a troll post, right?

not even a little bit. if you keep driving around with the intent of baiting cops to test your radar detector, you will eventually come out the other end with a ticket. not to mention that a stop will generally put you and the officer on the side of the road, which is not a safe place to be, thus increasing yours and their exposure for your little game. not cool... :thumbdown

Yeah, you're troll. No one is driving around out of habit. It's a crackdown month on bikers and I have 3 different RAM mounts arm lengths I wanted to test it. The LED lights on my own bike gave me false alarms in certain conditions. You have no idea how hard it is to install that in a sportbike and the complexities involved in trusting the system and all there is around it -BT sound alerts, and my new visual alert on the helmet. It all needed testing. Doing 10 over 35 is hardly something like baiting unless the cop is an idiot. If they weren't stopping bikers on Alice's for lack of reflectors on licence plates, yeah, they could do it.

Keep the front door shut if you don't like the thread. Go dump your brain somewhere else.
