CNC Rearsets?

Uhhh, CNC means Computer Numerical Control.

It's how machining is done. That's making the most precision parts, from the highest spec Aluminum alloys
(called Billet Aircraft Aluminum)

What came on the bike was cast aluminum and not real strong, to resist breaking..
And the cast aluminum foot pegs not only broke easy, they have smooth edges, that let your boots slide off.

I don't know what source you're getting rearsets from though...So I know nothing, about what you're getting.

Check out Bohemian Racing. Probably the same chinese parts as the eBay auction but last I heard they are a barf sponsor, and are local so you might be able to find spare parts when you go asphault surfing

No experience with those, but I do think there is something to the saying 'you get what you pay for'.

For the price though, get a pair and check em out!

Are they still operating? I last thought they weren't anymore.

CNC has nothing to do with the material. It may or may not hold good tolerances, depending on the machine used (although they tend to be pretty good).

all the cheap rearsets are made in China....they will do if you don't have $ to spend on good stuff... the quality isn't great and you usually have to mess with them a bit to get them to work right. I bought a set for my cbr and to be honest...I wouldn't do it again.

It's entirely possible to use CNC equipment on materials other than aluminum, or on crappy aluminum.

Plus, often they say "aircraft aluminum" when they mean 6061, which is significantly weaker than 7075.

Forgot to mention...im a cnc machinist who has seen a lot of my work go overseas only to come back for rework because of quality issues....help me keep my job and buy quality stuff made in the USA ..we'll both be happier!

It just looks like your typical Chinese knock off. Don't be surprised if it's not even 6061, but cast aluminum that's been machined. "CNC" is just their shitty marketing, brand name.

I condensed it to what seemed to me, to convey the relevant info.

I also ended my post, with saying I didn't know his source, so didn't know what he was getting. You didn't include that in your edited (out of context) version though.

I've been a Tool & Die maker -Prototype machinist for the roaring majority of my working life.

I wasn't about to include the various grades of what we call "Aircraft Aluminum", and their properties.

Just pointing out the difference in cast vs Machined from billet.

I am not weird, you are.
I was a Prototype Machinist as well as a CNC operator/set up Machinist for about 15 years before becoming a Manufacturing Engineer.

I was also the "Senior Machinist" at CRG for a brief period.

We sent the bar end mirrors to China and found the quality to be lacking. We'd tell them +/- .010" and we'd get +/- .030".

From my experience, you can get good quality from China, but it costs more. When you add the shipping costs, there's no real savings.

Yep, a bike I bought came with a Hindsight LS. I crashed and broke the whole thing, so I decided to try an ebay folding mirror that looked similar. It was a total POS, and now I have another Hindsight LS.
