Closest Legal Fire Roads to SF?

I'm picking up a new Yamaha Tenere 700 (soon) and would like to find some local (to SF) adventure roads to test this out immediately and have fun during break-in period.

Anyone know of any secret/accessible dirt roads to play on?

Fish Rock Rd out of Boonville. A couple of miles of pavement and then nice packed dirt.

Fish Rock is ok if you are in the area but its not worth its own trip. I mean MAYBE if it has been a torrential winter and its all rutted up it would be fun.

I'm in UT right now but I'll be back this coming week. DM me. I might have a suggestion or two that doesn't involve hours of tarmac for meh results.

Any update to this for the forum? I'm on a KTM 790 S and also looking for bay area dirt for practice. I'd rather not be in the middle of some long tour only to find I'm not comfortable with what I've gotten myself into. I'm looking for some day practice spots.

Was considering just going out to Carnegie but not sure if that place is built for ADV bikes or not.

Fish Rock is a well groomed dirt road. The ride there can be fun or a slab. Depends on what you want to put into it.

Hollister OHV has fun options if you haven't been there, some good one-way groomers fine for ADV bikes.

Stay on the fire roads and it's fine, I could ride my hayabusa through the main fire roads if I wanted to... The key is, you want to stay in an area where you can turn around and check out other spots for small tests, carnegie has that. Just ask if a local will ride with you?

Head over Mt. Madonna, go down the coast, take Old Coast Rd, head down the coast, take (los?) Burros rd up to Naciemento Ferg Rd. I believe there is some BLM land to ride on the other side somewhere near Lockwood Valley Rd, then go to King City and take that dirt road that cuts across to 25, on your way home get some Hollister or Metcalf. That would be a BIG day of riding.

La Gloria Rd from Gonzales to the fire station at Hwy 25, near the Pinnacles. Would use at least adventure tires, maybe even TKC80s. Going west is a little easier. And no cell service.

Tis' a full day of riding. Thanks for the route recommendations. Been meaning to do that dirt road connecting the 101 to the 25.
