Cement mixers?

Looking for an electric cement mixer, drawing < 15 amps @ 120v, to mix 3-4 80lb bags of concrete at a time and dump into a wheelbarrow.

Anybody have one they like? Hate? Or are they all the same and I should get the cheapest one on Craigslist?

Why not Cresco? You really wanna own one for extended period? Just asking because I am the last guy to remember that they exist (Cresco) as an option so trying to offer that.

I had a tree fall and rented a chainsaw. Damn that was sweet. 2-cycle Stihl with a brand-new chain. It turns out they put a new chain on EVERY time its rented. Presumably they keep their mixers in top shape too.

Perhaps you want to take your time and I get that too....

Good luck!

Thanks. I’m operating pretty rural, and the time to pick up and drop off once or twice covers the cost if we’re talking a $100-400 mixer. Hence the amps limit — running on a beefy solar system.

If I had to get a $1500+ gas mixer I’d rent.

I have the larger of the two cement mixers that they sell at Harbor freight. Short story buy something better. It works It will mix ONE 80 lb bag or TWO 60 lb bags at a time.
It will need help in the form of a shovel or a hoe to make sure that it actually does the full mix because it does doesn't mix very well.

It is easier to use than a hoe and a wheelbarrow but not a whole lot. If I was doing anything less than about 15 bags I'd use a hoe and a wheelbarrow.

I assume you are talking about ready mix. 3-4 bags of concrete is a fuckton ton of concrete when mixed with the correct amount of sand and aggregate.

How many bags total? Just rent one. Don't buy one for a small job.

As mentioned, I've done some medium pours mixing in a wheelbarrow by hand. It's not that big a deal.

I have a cement mixer I got at Lowes and it could probably do 2 bags of cement but that would be about it. I am not sure you can get one that would do 4 bags at under $400. If you have a tractor they make some PTO ones that look pretty good but I think they are more than your top dollar amount.

It's not my fault...
We had a project in SF and we wound up renting one from Cresco and buying one from them. Worked well. Decent price.
