Approved!
Yeah!!!

this of course:
“This approval allows for the destruction of this sensitive natural, cultural and historical resource that should be protected as part of our permanent heritage instead of degraded for the temporary use of off-road vehicle users,” said Celeste Garamendi of Save Tesla Park.

I attended the meeting today. The haters were hating. Some were quite angry. The cattle rancher neighbor guy was very rude when I had the gall to ask the group if they would still oppose the park if it was for mountain bikes during a break.

The meeting was unusual in that there was a second public comment period after some additional documents were released to the attendees.

Part of my second comment was:

....Regarding the air quality issue, when the world transitions to electric zero emission vehicles this won't be an issue... Regarding the comment that cattle harm the environment, they also produce methane. The manure can be sequestered and used to create electricity. Maybe we could partner with the neighbors to charge our bikes with it but unless you stick tubes in the cattle they will always produce methane. :D

All you have to do is point across the street to that desolate wasteland of a test site and tell those greenies to shut the hell up

I was just out at Carnegie today and asked about the expansion.

I was told that it passed.

Then I asked about when it would be implemented and was told three to five years. :( I'll be living somewhere else by then.

Back in the news :thumbdown

That was quick, lawsuits already. I'm surprised there's so much government hate. I thought it would just be the anti-OHV environmentalists suing.

I hope this doesn't add another decade of waiting :nchantr

Angela Ruggiero is credited for the article and I will contact her.
The expansion is so misrepresented by the haters. Area 300 is across the street, which I believe is a test area for Lawrence Livermore National (weapons) Lab and may be an environmental disaster.

The facts are that well run OHV parks are preserves for species and habitat. At the Santa Clara county (Metcalf Road) Motorcycle park, endangered species are thriving.

Cattle ranching annaliates the indiginous habitat. Responsible OHV use does not.

This, and the lawsuits to follow, will waste millions of dollars. Environmental groups have found ways to get their legal expenses reimbutsed with public money, even if it is a frivilous lawsuit, which this is.

Useful idiot
This was a major blow, and is extraordinarily frustrating. I will continue to fight and to pressure my representatives. Ugh. So many people voting based on feelings fueled by misinformation. Facts and logic, people. Facts and logic. :cry

This was expected.

This is a legal and political battle. If we do not help the BRC, AMA and CORVA fight this and the system that supports it we will lose.

This is one we can win. It just costs money. The haters seem to have time, patience and money.

The "Letter to the editor", written in the latest CORVA newsletter is a must read. I wish Anti - Carnegie folks would read it also.
