Broken Talus bone, how serious?

We talking ankle here!! ???

If a bone why the MRI to find it?

Strangely enough, broken bones don't always present in an X-Ray. My son needed a nuclear image taken of his heel as they knew something was wrong and the X-Ray was clear. The nuclear image showed it was broken. Six weeks in fiberglass and he was G2G.

Next to the Scaphoid in the wrist, the Talus is the worst bone in your body to break and heals very slowly. The blood supply is poor compared to other bones in our bodies. It's crucial to have zero weight bearing while it's healing.

I've been walking on it for a month in a boot, and started earlier this week walking in my doc martens. I can walk (more like hobble, actually) on it, but I'm having a bitch of a time with range of motion, especially in regards to moving it upward

Randomly came across this post.

Cappuccino,

How's your recovery going?

I completed a study on fracture classifications of the talus and would be interested in knowing how you are doing?

When in doubt, gas it!
Lo Siento. Really, I know the feeling. In fact, I was feeling it the other day.

After I got outta the cast I got an ankle boot like this:

Then I went to a gym with an indoor pool. It was good, low impact physical therapy. Another thing I got was a rolling vibrator with a bunch of little pyramids around it. I would turn it on and then roll it under my foot with light pressure. It gave me temporary pain relief. I wore Alpinestar Tech 8s, but my foot was so swollen I couldn't use the booty. I ended up just wrapping my ankle with a bunch of white tape and it worked pretty good. Eventually the swelling went down to where I could wear the boots normally.

I have some friends in Germany who have a cold creek running near their house. There's a good spot where they've installed railings and a concrete wading area. The cold water always felt great as it numbed my foot.

It still hurts from time to time. You'll probably get used to it. My doctor warned me that it would lead to arthritis.

Hey guys, it's been a while since my last update. I'm back at work, my bone healed up fully months ago with that 50mm screw in there. I have most of my range of motion back. My ankle is still stiff in the morning and takes a little hobbling around/being on it to bring it back.

It does pretty well with standing and walking on it all day nowdays, but after working 6 days with only 1 rest day it was sore and hurt to walk for the next couple days.

Otherwise I've been back to riding. I can shift fine, no problems there. My main issues are stairs and running. Ankle hasn't gotten back it's entire range of motion.
