If it looks cool do it. Its okay to offend a few people and I doubt anyone would be offended to the point they would say anything.

Doubtful anyone who served in that theatre is still driving, just don’t park in the assisted living places.

I think the Captain America motif is more badass (not to mention patriotic)

i mean, im not trying to recall all the suffering that took place, i just think it looks badass since my bike is japanese. on the other hand, i think most people dont know about what happened back then like as to say " oh you like when the japs killed all those american kids in hawaii" that kinda stuff is my concern about the paint job.
plus on the other hand we did drop 2 atomic bombs over innocent people ( just to end the war)

I think it's acceptable to do a zero paint scheme. Fwiw the red dot is still used on modern Japanese defense force aircraft as is the iron cross on German Luftwaffe.

Here are your paint scheme choices:

You would probably offend a lot more people having a bike painted like an ME109. Would have to be a BMW or something, though. :laughing

Yeah they still use the meatball on modern JASDF planes. I figure if you got a Japanese bike its cool.

I think the biggest reason to avoid doing it is that it will kill resale value. I've never seen a custom paint job that I wanted to pay money to own...

Yep, I'd pay next to nothing for a bike with someone else's custom paint scheme.
I suppose its possible that there may be exceptions.

If it's the CBR929RR, it's only worth about $2500 in great condition. So if it drops to $2000 due to the paint, not a big deal.

The problem isn't so much the price, but the extreme lack of buyers. Having owned a 2001 CBR929RR I might be tempted to buy one for $2-4K... but only if it had the same red/black/white color scheme as the one I previously owned. I've yet to see a custom-painted bike that I didn't think looked awful...

You should be fine. Just don't go overboard with a retro-WWII scheme with rivets and combat kills markings. The limited edition rc213v-s has a rising sun, and I doubt most would even bat an eye.
