Position Overview
The Shop Technician reports directly to the Shop Supervisor. The technician’s duty is to support the daily operation of the Commuter Bike Program by repairing and moving bikes on a growing campus. The technician is primarily responsible for maintaining safe and reliable bikes for the client. Bikes in our fleet include multi-speed hybrid commuter bikes and electric bikes.
Job Responsibilities
Maintain and repair bicycles.Maintain and repair Google’s fleet bikes, which include hybrid bikes, e-bikes, and bike share.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment.Ensure all work areas are kept clean, including the shop, vehicles, desks, and warehouse space. Must keep tools organized and stowed away before the end of the shift.
Maintain a work log and track assignments.You will be required to record all your repairs daily in your work log accurately. You must also keep track of your assignments and check them off when complete. You will be required to learn Google’s internal network to track your work.
Assist customer with questions.You must maintain knowledge of Google’s Bike Programs to assist customers with accurate information about bikes, products, and the bike program.
Work well under pressure.Perform your duties in a timely professional manner as assigned by the shop manager. Work with a sense of urgency and able to hustle when needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Abilities & Skills:
Must have communications skills in English, including written communications.
Must have at least 1 year experience in a retail setting bike shop.
Must possess good communication skills and be able to handle the public in a courteous non-hostile manner.
Must be computer literate and have experience with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word
Must maintain a clean driving record.
Must be able to work well independently or as a team.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
Must be comfortable driving a large work van.
Ability to teach a plus.
Being a cyclist is a huge plus.
