Best place to store a trailer in SF

Hi everyone,
I'm moving to San Francisco and bringing my bikes in an enclosed trailer (6x10). I'd like to keep the trailer after I get here (for trackdays) assuming I can find some place reasonable to store it. I tried a search on this forum but couldn't find anything. I've found a few places that charge about $100/month and that adds up. Any insight is appreciated.

Thanks,
PR

Hey Paul, work out a deal with someone who's got driveway room to spare near the city. You'll store the trailer in their driveway or backyard in exchange for them being able to use it once or twice per month.

Install one of those wheel odometers on it (like they have on city busses and other equipment) and keep record of that odometer's readings. The person should have to call you to run by you when they're taking it and to which track. That way they can do 2-4 trackdays a month (assuming they get a couple trackdays in a row) using your trailer and you'll know which track so you can tally up the mileage to make sure they're not using it "improperly".

This way you get free trailer storage for minimum wear and tear on the trailer itself. You'll probably see more wear and tear in the city anyway, even when you pay big bucks for parking. Bum piss and rat sh*t add up :laughing

:laughing Welcome to San Francisco!

Basically, get ready to pay one way or the other, there's no avoiding it. You'll either pay $100 per month for a safe and secure place or pay in terms of inconvenience by parking somewhere far away and/or having your trailer broken into and your stuff stolen. Would highly suggest not storing anything in the trailer, but if you do, make sure it's all insured and you've got a high quality lock and probably a boot for the wheel.

Living in SF is all about compromises. Living in a fun area that is safe and nice will cost major bux. Less expensive places with room for your stuff are farther from the action and less generally desireable.

Do you have a garage for your bikes? Put trailer in garage, then park the bikes in trailer! Just make sure to lock that bad boy down.....
