Best excuse to say to Officer

I’m soon to be riding a motorcycle and I know the temptation to speeding is very prominent. I was wondering are there any good excuses to say to you so I won’t get a ticket?

My father once said when asked why he was speeding "that guy in the Cadillac back there pissed me off" Well slow down Mr. Ross was all the LEO said to him and no ticket.

"I didn't want you to see me at your house with your spouse."

Always lightens the mood.

When I get pulled over I admit to nothing and am as courteous as I can possibly be and it has gotten me out of a lot of tickets. I think I have only gotten cited like maybe 50% of the times I have pulled over.

Usually, the first thing they ask you is, do you know why I pulled you over? and my response is always a No sir I do not know why you pulled me over because I am not going to admit guilt for something if I guess wrong as to why he did pull me over.

I have been fairly lucky over my life as far as getting tickets but Hollister is like Kryptonite to me every time I go on vacation to visit family there they are always pulling me over for some reason even when I go to jack in the box to get food late at night and am doing nothing wrong. They still find something to complain about although i am still 50/50 on getting cited even with their extra attention.

I don't exceed the posted limit unless conditions support the increased speed. For example; no cars on the road, lots of visibility, no off/on ramps, good weather, etc.

If traffic is going 80 then everyone is at risk of citation.

You can always ask for a verbal warning but make sure you ask before they start writing the ticket. Once they start writing the ticket itself, they have to continue.

No guarantee of leniency but it never hurts to ask. I'm batting 50/50 when I remember to ask but admittedly the nerves get jacked up so it's easy to forget to ask as soon as they stop you.

Best solution is try and keep your speeds down below 10+ the speed limit...at least on the freeways. Around town, sometimes even 5+ the speed limit is enough to get you a ticket.

Last time I was in Pittsburg to testify in a small claims case (small claims and traffic court were one and the same magistrate) the magistrate was suspending licenses for folks going 5 over the limit in town.

CHP Officer: do you why I stopped you?"

Yes Sir Officer, you are looking for speeders...

CHP Officer: Well???

Well sir, I got here as fast as I could...

there is no excuse, they've heard them all.
Be contrite and polite and have all your paperwork in order.
The rest is up to the gods.

Thank God there's a law that says you can only get a ticket or a lecture- never both. A lot of cops don't seem to know about that one though...don't know what that's about...

I know, right?! We should be able to back-charge for time on lectures. $20 off the amount of the ticket for every minute spent gettin' on my ass about whatever I did wrong. :laughing

Last time I was pulled over a couple years ago, the officer and I had a nice chat about cars and martial arts. Then he gave me a ticket anyway.

I felt like a total putz.

I've had several good conversations with the officer that pulled me over. One was even considereing buying a GSXR750. We had a nice chat, he was a super nice guy. I got the ticket anyway.

Mercy!!! all that effort and no joy...

I was red lighted in a 60 religiously holding 60 not because its the limit rather
because I spotted a CHP Stang in my 6 cutting through the traffic in a hurry...
fortunately this Officer was an unapologetic enthusiast and has never seen and I
quote "Honda's rare and exotic RC45"... we talked kick stand as gawkers looked on...
He was unhappy patrolling in a "Cage" he wanted a "Motor"...

Some funny stuff... thanks for the smiles.

My last time pulled over I was polite as hell.. had everything in order.

Still got the ticket... after signing I said to him "See you in court because I am going to beat this".

Dude waited until I got to Alice's to light me up too.
Good show for the others I guess.. :laughing
