My son is going to set up a home wifi in a condo that has Comcast cable. His company will be footing the bill. Recommend the best cable modem and if needed the best router for business use please. He will be submitting bills to his work month to month.

Many thanks!

For a router I'm currently running an Asus RT-N66U. I'm sure there are better options now, but it works splendidly.

I have the Motorola which supports DOCSIS 3.1, so in theory I can get 1Gb/s, but Comcast throttles me to 25 Mb/s. With my previous modem I was able to get up to 140 Mb/s, until they limited the speed. If you want full speed you will pay an arm and a leg for your monthly subscription.

BTW if you don't get Comcast to install their cable modem you will need to call support and give them your MAC address to enable your connection. Once upon a time they had a website opening where you could enter your information, but I haven't seen that for many years.

Actually there's a better way, as I just did this a few days ago. Connect new modem, plug laptop directly into modem and it will automatically launch Comcast URL in browser. Log in via web, follow prompts to active modem and that's it. :D

until you move, then you have to call and have it re-provisioned
