BTW if you don't get Comcast to install their cable modem you will need to call support and give them your MAC address to enable your connection. Once upon a time they had a website opening where you could enter your information, but I haven't seen that for many years.
Actually there's a better way, as I just did this a few days ago. Connect new modem, plug laptop directly into modem and it will automatically launch Comcast URL in browser. Log in via web, follow prompts to active modem and that's it.

The arris modems are cheap because they're junk. At least in my experience.
