barf is really slow to load today

many barf pages are slow to load. maybe around 10 seconds, or more sometimes. other web sites load fine - seems specific to barf.
issue also seems intermittent; sometimes page loads okay.

web server is also occasionally throwing errors.

It was slow for me for a little bit, but it seems to have cleared up now.
