Back Roads to Laguna Seca

A few years ago I rode from San Jose to Laguna Seca taking only fun little back roads, no freeway. I just followed the group at the time so I have no idea which way we went. That was fun though... :cool

I am looking for a map and/or directions to go from San Jose to Laguna Seca taking only back roads. I will ride down there with a couple of friends on Saturday morning and Sunday morning for the Moto GP.

I am pretty sure it has already been posted here but there are so many "Laguna Seca" threads, I could not find it... I won't mind if you just post a link to the threads, thanks! :thumbup

I think you can jump off in Gilroy, head over the hill towards Watsonville... and take some farm roads.

When you get near Monterey, continue to Carmel and head east into the canyon. There is a road that jumps over the hill northbound and drops you in by the track. It is pretty fun and scenic too.

See you there.

Highway 25
http://www.pashnit.com/roads/cal/Highway25.htm

to 198 (west to 101)

(or G-13 Bitterwater to King City 101)

101 north to Central (you pass king city)

Central Rd. (North to G-16)

G-16 west Carmel Valley Road (my hometown) Lots of gravel and blind turns. Look for rocks in the road and crazy drivers.

You will pass through the town of Carmel Valley and go right up G-20.

G-20 Laureles Grade (watch for CHP) then left 100yards to Laguna Seca

Carmel Valley is a good place to buy small suppplies before Laguna. There is a Safeway about 6 miles after the CV Village in Mid Valley.
The Running Iron when you first get into CV has refreshments (and pizza) and the Safeway also has some good Pizza (Snarley's) 3 miles later you'll hit Baja Cantina (good Mexican food w/ big bar) 2 miles later you'll hit Carmel, Hwy 1, etc.
