What was the highest raise you got and the lowest raise you have gotten for the past 10-11 years after the 08 recession?

If you had title changes I guess it doesnt count, just trying to get a ballpark of avg raises people get in bay area, if seriously tech valley is like 20% raises a year, then imma move into my cousins spare bedroom and work in bay area instead of north bay.

I've gotten from 0% to close to 40% raises.

It's all dependent on your company, job, boss and of course performance. Some of the larger raises were mostly because i was underpaid for the position to start with. After i proved myself, they brought me up to and past avg.

I think it's important to recognize that switching employers, growing your title or even changing your role entirely are going to be the primary drivers for increasing wages over time. Additionally, it's important to track changes in compensation in an annualized format so you're making equivalent comparisons.

For myself, I've had net negative percentage changes all the way up to 40% annualized gains. For the past three and a half years under the same title range (base to senior), I've experienced a 30% total gain which is annualized out to be roughly 9%. It looks like I'm staying ahead of inflation? :dunno :laughing :laughing

I avg 3-5% since 08, and have been told thats really good for what the company gives out for other departments.

20% raises aren't happening unless you're bouncing from company to company every 6-24 months (which is extremely common).

It's not my fault...
When I stay at a company I get a 3-4% raise. When the new company recruited me, they gave me a 25% raise to pull me away

changing companies to make more money doesn't fall under the raise category for me. A raise means you were paying me something else before (not 0 lol)

1 employer, 6 years, 4 roles

Avg 15-ish% increase per year

I’m an anomaly in my org. I’ve had phenomenal managers.

Healthcare tech.

Yeah unless you bounce or switch roles I don't think most get raises outside 2-5%. That being said companion throw in $-$$$ cash/RSUs bonuses.

Only tech? I have a union and we pretty much average 3% per year in our contracts. With adding a college degree, changing roles, and a seniority bump I make a little more than 4x what I made in 2008.

Same job title and responsibilities at the same company for ten years, now making about +/- triple what I started at.

Most definitely not tech.

Social Security has been really mean to me. Not much at all. Now you people stop wasting your time on the internet and go back to work. I need the money.

My agency for the last 7 years gives 2-5% depending on performance review. 5% should be exceptional and rare, but some supervisors try hand them out like candy.

I think I have changed titles 6 times in 7 years, so I haven't really been a part of that process, lol.
