New Thread idea here: Ask any question you're looking for the answer to and if you know the answer, please answer it. No question is too stupid and PLEASE no calling people idiots for asking a really dumb question. I have lots...

My first one:

Why do commercial toilets have a 7/8 seat with a cutout in the front and residential seats are 8/8 seat coverage with no cutout of the seat?

Because nobody wants their junk touching something that someone else's might have touched. Unless they know the other person, apparently.

I'm new to buying stocks, and curious how long one should hold something when taking a loss.

Also how often you check them, is it daily? Weekly? Monthly?

Why does my motorcycle, designed to be sold in the states, have a design that doesn't allow our gas pump nozzles to function and let the gas out? I have been using gas cans at home for the entire 9 years I had the bike with occasional lapses resulting in gas splashes all over the frickin place trying to get the recovery thing to work. Aaaaaargh. Is that stupid enough?

Why do people think arguing about politics is the same as engaging in the political process?

Why don't people follow instructions?

edit: Yes, I know technically I didn't...just trying to start the thread back up ;)

edit2: And Berto...nice thread idea, but you might want to reverse the wording...answer/ask

Perhaps the person that's being asked to follow instructions doesn't necessarily process information in a linear fashion; perhaps they're more prone to abstract direction?

In the song "Folsom Prison Blues" J Cash.
"I shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die"
How did he get stuck in Folsom?
A murder in Reno Nevada, should land him in Carson City.

If a woodchuck could chuck wood, then a woodchuck would chuck as much wood as a woodchuck could.
Best I got

New York state wildlife expert Richard Thomas found that a woodchuck could (and does) chuck around 35 cubic feet of dirt in the course of digging a burrow. Thomas reasoned that if a woodchuck could chuck wood, he would chuck an amount equivalent to the weight of the dirt, or 700 pounds.

Why is it people are talking about Woodchuck's and I saw my first yesterday out here in New York?

Amazing is why.

You can set limits that will automatically sell if it drops to a certain price.

I personally don't buy individual stocks anymore, I'm all ETF's. The problem with individual stocks is, A) you need to spend more time researching them, and B) studies have shown that most people who try picking their own do worse than they would if they had simply invested in an S&P 500 fund.
